Report Builder Times Out on Large Report - TWH Migration

I have a problem with the same report. I can see all my Scouts, but the report times out if I try to run three or more Scouts. I can get a report to run and download with only one Scout. If I try to run the report with two Scouts, it runs, but it does not download as a CSV. I have full permissions and have tried the reports on Chrome, Firefox, and Safari on an Apple and Edge on a PC. What am I doing wrong? Besides assuming I am doing something wrong.

This is the url to the report : Report Builder - T504 Advancement Report 04-10-26

@GerardThurston I assume it is a report with tons of options checked?

Yes, it matches the report outlined in the migration document for TroopWebHost: TroopWebHost User Guide: Upload ScoutbookPlus™ Report Builder Advancement

Good luck trusting TWH with that. A report pulling thousands of separate data pieces for each scout ROFL. That would crush most servers, for 10-15 scouts that might be 65,000-75,000 items minimum..

So you are moving off SB, to pay for TWH, so you still have to upload things back into SB to report them?

I was an original user of Scoutbook when you had to pay for the subscription. Scoutbook+ creates two systems for data entry and has lost the simple, intuitive user interface. TWH provides a public-facing website. Scoutbook+ doesn’t. Should I go on?
I came here for a solution, not smug criticism. Quality customer service?

Thanks for re-enforcing why we should move away from Scoutbook.

The report you are running was not designed for that type of use. I would suggest the various exports under “quick export” are better for that.

Thanks for the suggestion, Jacob. And for making this a separate discussion.

I was able to solve this in Scoutbook+ by chunking the data into several reports. Running advancement and awards produced a single report with all Scouts. The merit badge download was where your common table expression got hangup; once eliminated the other fields downloaded. The merit badge detail ran using separate patrol reports.

Yeah if you could run and import Without the Empty requirements that would greatly reduce the data. How many scouts have started Composite materials or Landscape Architecture - but with Empty on that is all included.

Well that was the solution, Donovan. You can eliminate the null fields by unchecking the Show Empty Requirements field selection. That returned all the Scouts rank advancement and merit badges. It eliminates all the merit badges requirements that have not been opened by any Scout.

@GerardThurston I was not sure if that would make the import fail - imports are tricky and picky
