Scoutbook seems to be requiring MORE attention these days. I don’t plan to make a visit to scoutbook a daily occurrence, but today, I have more than a dozen CURRENT scouts who are not assigned to a den. I am guessing these have recently renewed their membership, but it would be nice if they were automatically plopped back into their dens when they renewed. Current members of a den not getting messages unless one of the few of us with pack admin privileges goes and, one by one, remembers what den they are in and pushes them back into their dens. Help please!
@PatrickGarvey depending on how a family renews - sometimes they drop out and come back in taking them out of Dens - they just need to be placed back in the dens
If the Scout’s membership expired and they did not renew until after the end of the 60 day grace period, they will come back in without being assigned a den because the registration system does not track dens.
If you post the BSA Member IDs (no names) of these Scouts, we can determine if this is what happened.
Here’s one number you can check:
SB User ID: 13199243 BSA Member ID: 140328571
My question is: can we request to re-code SB software to have the membership in the den be renewed at the same time as membership in the pack “check here to rejoin same den”
@PatrickGarvey - the membership renewal is via my.scouting.org which does not know the den/patrol structure of any unit.
This Scout has not yet completed renewal and got caught in an automated extension by the BSA.
What happened is these Scouts were removed by the system on 9/29/24 because their memberships expired on 7/31/24. The BSA then extended their expiration to 8/31/24 and restored their memberships. Because they had not renewed, were removed then placed back in the unit they came back with no den associated.
You can go to these Scout’s membership pages to see what den they were in then move them back into that den if they should be in the same one.
Note this Scout will be removed again near the end of October if they do not complete their renewal for 2024-25.
