I have 3 adults who have taken SYT training in the past week. Each one received a message that they passed, however none of them received an email. When I run the report to see if they are active or not it is showing they are not active. If I go in to training manager it also shows that they are not active with SYT. If they go into their own my.scouting account, it shows as expired as well.
How do we avoid them doing the whole 90 minute course again if they passed it already? The user member numbers are

@MattTooley1 - I suspect they took the 20 minute refresher rather than the actual course.
@MattTooley1
Stephen is correct, none of these leaders completed the full 90 minute SYT. There was a bug that was fixed yesterday that allowed members who were not eligible to take the refresher course to do so.
These 3 individuals need to take the full 90 minute SYT to be in compliance.
My SYT expired 5/31/2026, and when I signed in a few days ago, I was prompted to take the refresher course. I completed and passed on the first attempt. I also did not receive an email. My SYT is still showing as expired.
@MatthewDolezalek yeah yours is odd - I see the class complete - but not the Y01 - give council a call I think
The 6880563 did indeed do that, the other two advised they did the full version. I will ask them to do it again.
@MattTooley1
Neither 132623714 nor 136047200 have any training recorded since 12/1/2025.
I have an adult leader whose YPT expired as of 05/31/2026. The adult leader hit the retake button. He received the refresher version of the SYT test. I instructed him to go back in to retake the 90-minute version. The screen only displays the refresher version (ID# 18664492). How do we fix this?
@VernonSmith1 - they could try this route:
@VernonSmith1 For this particular user, the easiest way is to have him log in to my.Scouting.org. On the home page, click the picture:
As for other users, a help ticket might need to be submitted to National explaining in detail what needs to be fixed. Pictures are very helpful.
Hi Jennifer
The workaround that you are recommending is to log in, click the picture, and take the test.
Then have the council register check for multiple IDs, merge if needed.
Thanks!
Vern

@VernonSmith1 they need the full 90 minute course
@VernonSmith1 Like Stephen said, the user needs to take the full 90-minute version. I was just providing an easy way to get to it.
Could you double-check the MID? I thought I looked it up before, but I’m not able to find it today.

This is a very helpful thread — thank you! It also appears that for people who completed the old YPT and had their expiration date set to two years instead of one, the system marked their training as expired on May 31, 2026. They were then allowed to take the Refresher (apparently due to the bug mentioned above), but internally they were likely only eligible for the Refresher within one year plus seven days of completing their previous training. As a result, they now have to retake YPT yet again, this time selecting the 90-minute course. We have two leaders who completed the Refresher and now have to take the full 90-minute course again.
I understood from my council that it was a national requirement that everyone, no matter the expiration date of their existing YPT, had to take the new SYT (full 90-minure course) before 31 May 2026. I got several reminders from my council and unit Key 3 before I finally blocked out time and just did it.
The shorter SYT refresher course, as I understood it, was only ever intended to be available after the scouter had already taken and passed the new “full” SYT course. Your council professional staff should be able to clarify this for you, since they have the official line from national.
@CharleyHamilton
You are correct, everyone must take the full 90 minute SYT course in order to be eligible to take the 20 minute refresher the following year. Anyone who had only completed the legacy YPT course must take the 90 minute SYT course.
I have a new issue. I have a user who took the short version. His screen told him he was complete - proceed to print out the certificate. It would print. He went back in - the screen tells him he is 99%.
Now it’s telling him to start over again.
@VernonSmith1 What is the user’s member ID number?
