Training.scouting.org NOT working

Issue here is that I can get all the way to the window where the presentation should begin, I see the outline of the video box as well as the title of the module for YPT, but it just sits there seeking information from the server, then stops loading. Chrome, Edge, and FireFox used with no active extensions.

Are you using an Incognito window in Chrome?

I am not, wasn’t sure if that was still a thing. I will give that a try if it seems to still work.

Tried from incognito. Same issue

Then I am guessing there is an issue on the LMS. I will send a notice to the Team Leader.

In-private mode using Edge, same issue.

Thanks for checking Ronald!

Been trying to take scoutmaster training for a few days. First it was the 504 error everyone else was getting, now I can at least get to the pages, but no courses come up. The page renders, but no content. I was able to take one course before, so I at least know its not my setup.

I’ve tried all these pages:

https://training.scouting.org/my-learning
https://training.scouting.org/home

Ironically, I have a Venturer that just turned 18 and he also cannot access YPT on anything he has tried in the last few days. I let him know there have been issues and will be hoping it is fixed soon. I have also been pushing all of our adult leaders to renew YPT because our council requires it annually and must be completed before we can recharter.

Has there been any communication at the national/regional level to councils or commissioners to let them know about these issues?

@SixSpot Is this for a Venturer with initials K.L.?

It looks like this Venturer has recently logged in to Scoutbook mobile, but not my.scouting or the BSA’s learning center / learning management system.

Ya, I messaged our local council executive, and they were not aware of the issue. Additionally, the exec said they are often not looped into any of the IT issues. I wanted them to know as they had just sent out a message that they would be making changes to the training requirement to annually if people didn’t complete their bi-annual training requirement ASAP. Can’t really do that when access to complete the training modules is impossible.

So, Windows 10, Microsoft Edge Browser using an InPrivate window. I am re-taking the Overview & Policies v2 course right now. So it is working just fine.

Question, so I just looked at the page source code, was running it in Edge (windows 11) in-private mode, and the script says something along the lines of must have java script enabled. Is that true? Never had this issue before when I did the trainings in the past. Just trying to solve the issues, thanks! Screenshot below

Yes, Javascript must be enabled on this LMS.

It currently is enabled.

Well, it must be a computer issue. I am now watching the training on Chrome on my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra with no issues. Retried it in Chrome using an incognito window with no luck. Wonder if there is a Windows 11 setting that is causing this to not work. In any case, getting the training done was my priority, not fixing the issue. LOL Thanks for your help @RonaldBlaisdell

Same here. I keep trying to complete my Den Leader training during lunch or after my kids are in bed. Most times it fails to work. The Training site (along with the other sites honestly) needs to be GREATLY improved. How have you been able to finish your training? I’ve done every troubleshooting suggestion plus some.

As a side note - a system notification on the splash page would be very helpful to know if the system is currently working (or not).

Hey @BrandonSparkman, as a new user I had a lot of issues with accessing the training. I finally finished it all after many attempts over several days.

I just found this website, which can check if websites are down or not and might be helpful in the future: Website Down Checker: Down for everyone or Just you?

Good luck!
