Troop K3 leader lost there position permits

Hi, all

I’m a Commissioner of a troop that express that there position permits are no longer on the system. The make the request to our council but they just tell them to go to the scoutmaster.

Scout id 124330668 / 12163930 / 9129075

Please let me know, because they’re working on requirements of a eagle scout on there troop

@OmarLopez1 - I am not following what the issue is??

The K3 member of the troop can’t mark, approved or change any advancement of the scout within the troop

@OmarLopez1 - it is better if the troop leader posted in the scoutbook forum as this is not a my.scouting issue. The third party assistance does not work well.

@OmarLopez1 this is very unclear. You put up 3 numbers with no definitions or explanations. What is the Adults Member #? What is the Youths?

Those are the id members of the adults that are part of the K3 of the troop. They can’t make any changes on the scouts advancement.

@OmarLopez1- i think the scout member id would be needed as well

The numbers I wrote before are the scout id of the adults part of the troop k3

@OmarLopez1 What is the youth’s member ID number?

(No names, please)

The youth id 130251302

@OmarLopez1 It looks like the youth’s parent / child “Relationships” are backwards, which might be causing problems.

The local council should be able to fix by using their Registrar Tools to look up the Scout, and in the “Relationships” tab / section, remove the parent (or parents) completely, and then add them back.

Something else I see is that First Class rank appears to have been completed / earned after Life rank, which will not work.

Well the K3 of the troop is aware of this errors and went to our council for help. The council tell them that the scoutmaster must make the correction, but when K3 try to do it on scoutbook they realize that the don’t have access to make modifications.

There isn’t anything that the unit leadership can do about the issues that Jennifer noted regarding the reversed parent/child relationship. That’s in the official membership database and has to be fixed there by the registrar as described by Jennifer. That’s not a Scoutbook/SB+ issue.

It’s odd that the Key 3 (SM, CC, COR) aren’t able to change the advancement for the scout, since by design the Key 3 have full permissions for everything in SB+. Are they having trouble editing advancement for other scouts? If so, it might be worth verifying that they are actually registered in the Key 3 roles, as opposed to just showing that way in Scoutbook or being a Troop Admin in Scoutbook (both of which are common issues that get confused with being registered as one of the Unit Key 3).

Where are they trying to make changes in the scout’s advancement? Troop advancement moved from classic Scoutbook to SB+ earlier this year, and I wonder if they’re just going to the wrong place.

I will very with the K3 and review their access. Thanks to all for the advice and help.

@OmarLopez1 I think the unit Key 3’s registrations are OK. I think the issues are with the parent / child relationships being backwards, and then First Class rank being out of order.
