"Unable to find the userRankRequirement..." Error with old, never-approved adventures

Our pack hasn’t been using Scoutbook much. Whenever we did, the Advancement Chair never went in and approved things.

We are trying to introduce the use of Scoutbook, but there are a number of older cubscouts from previous years with completed advancements and no way to clear these out in the app. I am a K3 delegate, so my understanding is that I should be able to approve/mark them as completed in some way.

The URL of the page I’m on is: Internet Advancement

The request is to do the following:
[{“organizationGuid”:“7564138C-F7BD-4ACF-8E97-F523650F1EAE”,“userId”:12035636,“adventures”:[{“id”:21,“dateCompleted”:“2023-02-05”,“dateEarned”:“2023-02-05”,“leaderApprovedDate”:“2023-02-05”,“leaderApprovedUserId”:13172407,“awarded”:false}]}]

Attempts to batch approve also fail in the same way.

Is this a permissions issue? The error seems like a data issue.

The request generates this on the inspection console in Chrome: “POST Internet Advancement 404 (Not Found)”

Separately, if the developers of the scoutbook library could clean up some comments, their service-worker.js has an oft-repeated inappropriate comment:
“// extra transformation because Safari is retarded”

Also as another aside, it’s confusing to be given a 404: “POST Internet Advancement 404 (Not Found)” when the error is obviously on the server side. The Toast Error API is displaying some kind of data integrity error, not a missing resource.

Thanks!

@KateShipman - cub scout needs approval, purchasing and awarding was moved back to scoutbook.scouting.org. Please look there

Packs were given a full 3 month window to enter retired awards info before they were closed - Old awards, only councils can now enter that data for packs now with out hitting too many annoying bugs (those are not going to be addressed as the awards are retired.)

Here is the Big Picture for you to consider - the only thing that really lives on for Cubs is the AOL as its date is on the Eagle Application. All other items become significantly less visible in the digital world and have no ill-effect on Scouts if not entered into the national system, Families see the ranks on the Blue shirts. Might be simplest to limit it to just ranks and not adventures. If you wish to tackle it I wish you the best, and be very nice to your council registrar as it could be a very large job for them to enter as well.

https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/34403.pdf is the form you would submit to council for entry.

Moving forward - your use of the Scoutbook Platforms will make it much easier

@KateShipman Donovan hits the nail on the head for adventures not previously entered, but if I understand the original query, these adventures were entered, but never approved and you are trying to move them off the list by marking them as approved. If this is the case, you’ll want to follow what @Stephen_Hornak said and login to Scoutbook legacy (classic) and go to the “needs approving” report found in the Reports menu on the Pack page. This will hopefully allow you to mass approve all old adventures and clean it up going forward. You may also want to mark them as “awarded” from the “needs awarding report” so they will completely “drop off” and not attempt to be added to future Purchase Orders.

Eventually, it will be migrated to the area where you have your screenshot from Scoutbook+, however, that transition has not occurred, yet.

Hope this helps!
