Does anyone know how to print pocket certificates for new awards? If I go back to purchase orders from last year, I can access and print pocket certificates for awards. However, as I’m trying to print pocket certificates for tomorrow’s meeting, it keeps giving me an error. It has been doing this for me ever since the changeover to scoutbook plus. I used to be able to work around this by clicking on a purchase order from last year and then just pasting the current purchase order in the url and it would populate with updated certificates, but now they must have updated the site and it is a completely different url and I am unable to use this work around.
Honestly, this is super frustrating. It seems like every time there is an update, there is an issue with printing certificates or making a purchase order. The old site was great as it was reliable and worked. Being that we are all volunteers, it is really disheartening when it takes hours to do something that should take 25 min. Any help would be appreciated.
My first pass would be to ask whether or not your unit Key 3 have updated your permissions in accordance with the PDF and video in the blue banner at the top of the page. This is one of the most common issues folks are running into since the changeover of the permissions structure in SB+.
@MichaelVittoria
What error? We can’t do anything without know what is failing.
I am also trying to print the pocket cards and the error just says “Error: something went wrong, try again.” I am in SB+ on my new purchase order and I clicked “Print Certificate” at the bottom.
I am the Advancement Chair in SB and was able to approve advancements and create the purchase order, is there something else that the Key 3 would have to update for me to be able to print the certificates? COH is on Thursday…
@RebeccaAnzueto_Estra- we have always hand written the pocket certificates
@RebeccaAnzueto_Estra you are not registered as an Advancement Chair

Ask a Key 3 member (Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Committee Chair, Charter Org Rep) to use Permissions Manager in either Scoutbook Plus or my.scouting.org to give you the functional role of Advancement Chair. The next day you should be able to print the pocket certificates.

Also, you are registered as both a Committee Member and Unit Scouter Reserve in your troop. This is not permitted. A Key 3 should be able to end the USR position in Position Manager in Scoutbook Plus. If they cannot, contact your Council registrar and ask them to expire the USR position.

I’m having the same error as Rebecca noted below. I’m registered as both the assistant cubmaster and advancement chair but the same thing happens as with Rebecca. I can approve and create purchase order, but when I click print pocket certificates, a small popup with “error” comes up. If I go back to old purchase orders from last year, I can print pocket certificates.
@MichaelVittoria so if the PO is open you cannot print Certificates. But if it is Closed you can?
I don’t think it matters if the order is open or closed. If I click on a closed purchase order from last month, it still gives me the “error, something went wrong” pop up when I try to print pocket certificates. If I click on an old order from April 2025, I can click and print pocket certificates without problem. The only change I can point to is that I was made assistant cubmaster starting in June in addition to being advancement chair. The orders since I have been updated to assistant cubmaster, I seem to not be able to print certificates. Not sure if this has to do with the position change or update in scoutbook plus since this all happened around the same time.
