I am the current CC. when i go to recharter it would let me edit the registered positions. Is it am issue with my account or am i unable too edit the people currently registered for that position? or do i need to do it in scoutbook first? I have not changed the positions in scout book yet because once I do its a pain to put back.
@SaraFrisch - only the COR or COR Delegate can change registered positions.
I am having a similar issue- I cannot edit the position manager. I am the COR delegate and my COR cannot change it as well. The registered adult leader is our committee chairman and its listed correctly on the unit summary but not on the position manager. I cannot complete our unit renewal without a listed committee chair- says we have an error and missing this person.
This is the error message; position already exists in the same organization for given person - positionId: 464 - personId: 45351885 - organizationGuid: 73468FDC-2665-48C1-BC05-FA4FE8951C10
All Renewal Questions are to be directed to your council - I would start with the registrar
Is there anyone I can contact at a national help to help with renewal process? I have contacted my council multiple times through email and phone regarding this issue and have received zero support.
@AshliNewman - did you contact your council registrar
All support for registration & renewal issues is via local councils. Typically it is the Council Registrar that handles these issues.
Yes we have contacted our registrar multiple times with no answer and no callbacks. Our pack is frustrated with the lack of communication and help.
Then you will need to go up the Council hierarchy. Eventually all Council staff reports to the Scout Executive. The Council Executive reports to the Council Board of Directors, not to anyone at the national office.
@AshliNewman What is the BSA member ID number for the person you are trying to make the Committee Chair?
If the key 3 are not able to edit positions in the position manager, this sounds more like a scouting.org functionality issue than a recharter question.
The Key 3 have only ever been able to edit the functional positions like Key 3 Delegate. The my.scouting process is essentially a digital version of the paper forms, substituting COR changing positions digitally in Position Manager for the COR signature approving the position change paperwork.
Either way, if a change to the process is desired, the council professionals have to submit a change/MemberCare request to national, since the groups that support those tools don’t take bug reports or change requests from anyone else.
@PatriciaBrown1 - adult positions are and always have been the subject of approval by the COR. The limitation in my.scouting.org is reflecting that.
Any suggestions…
My executive officer has been renewed but not showing current on recharter page. I renewed him 2 weeks ago. It should have been updated by now.
I assumed we didn’t have to renew them - that they would renew with the unit. I haven’t heard anything one way or the other on the XO.
@JamesMacKenzie As I suspected, we don’t have to directly renew the XO. Our renewal is fully processed and the XO is now showing an “expiration date” of 12/31/25.
@JamesMacKenzie I have been following this with another unit at a different chartered org and thus found out something. When our units renewed their adults, they included our XO. It wasn’t automatic, it just seemed that way. Sorry to say it was when I clearly didn’t realize it wasn’t.
So, for the unit that renewed all of their adults except for their XO, they had to go in a check the box in front of the XO, go to renew, and process it. It was no cost and reflected the renewal in about 15 mins.
Again, I am sorry I lead you astray!
