Adult member encountering an error when attempting to renew himself

Good afternoon,

I have an adult leader (our Committee Chair) who is trying to complete his annual renewal.
When he attempts to complete the renewal himself, he counters this error:

Something went wrong
Error Code: The given fkPersonPositionId must have a valid date range, not be deleted, have AdvancePayReCharter set to false, registration status different from 1771 (Unpaid) and not be a functional position. - fkPersonPositionId: 165318637, Message: Bad Request

When I attempt to complete the renewal for him, I am given a message that he already has an open order, so I am unable to complete the renewal for him.

His BSA Member ID is: 132714651

Thanks!

@BrianPieslak have you talked to council?

He has emailed our District Executive, who has added Council representatives to the email.
Unfortunately the email thread has gone quiet and he is not receiving a response.

We were hoping there was a way to decipher what the error message meant.

Since this person is our Committee Chair, he would be in a “functional position”.

We were wondering if we needed to first complete our rechartering as a unit before our Committee Chair could complete his renewal.

For what it’s worth, both myself (Scoutmaster) and our COR had no issues completing their renewals.

Thank you, @DonovanMcNeil !

@BrianPieslak

Unfortunately no one from the BSA monitors these forums and the volunteers to do have no visibility into renewal tools. Your Council is your only option. Typically these are issues that must be handled by the registrar, not a District Executive.

Committee Chair is a registered position, it is not a functional role.

Copy all.
Thanks for the clarifications @edavignon & @JenniferOlinger .

I will ask him to reach out to Council again.

@BrianPieslak Your Committee Chair has the functional role of Key 3 Delegate, which he does not need. Committee Chair is already one of the unit’s Key 3, so making him a Key 3 Delegate was superfluous.

However, I would not try to change it yourself. The local council might be able to end it so that the end date is outside of the grace period.

Copy that.
Thank you for clarifying that @JenniferOlinger .

I believe our Committee Chair was trying to update our Advancement Chair, and may have inadvertently made himself a Key 3 Delegate.

We’ll get this all cleaned up in January after we recharter.

Thank you again!
