Update or add a sub-domain to make the Scoutbook Plus domain easier to remember

I’ve found myself frequently referring Scout Leaders to the new “Scoutbook Plus” app. They ask, “How do I get to it?” I reply saying “Go to advancements.scouting.org

This is confusing for members to remember. We are starting to use Scoutbook Plus for quite a few features and I find myself and others typing in “scoutbook.scouting.org” which takes you to the legacy site. This is frustrating.

I find myself frequently saying the following:

“Please use Scoutbook Plus, which is not located at “scoutbook.scouting.org”, that is the legacy site, please use “advacements.scouting.org”, which is Scouting Plus - it’s just not renamed yet.”

I’d request that scoutbookplus.scouting.org or sbp.scouting.org or another sensible subdomain be enabled to allow access to Scoutbook Plus that’s easier to remember and communicate to leaders.

@RyanHendrickson - a far simpler solution is to make use of bookmarks and favorites. There may well be coding that is involved in the api’s for the site.

@RyanHendrickson

I suspect, though I don’t know, that when Scoutbook is completely merged into Scoutbook Plus and the legacy site retired, that https://scoutbook.scouting.org will be used to get to Scoutbook Plus.

If you find yourself in legacy Scoutbook, you can click the Home icon then the link for Scoutbook Plus.

I look forward to the consolidation, especially sending messages. Once sending messages is moved over, I’m not sure I’ll have anything left in Legacy Scoutbook to use.

I think it’s pretty do-able to setup additional subdomains to serve the same content.

I don’t know how Advancements is hosted, although I believe you can setup an nginx to reverse proxy based the on the subdomain.

The cert for TLS is being served up as a wild card cert, *.scouting.com, so it looks like it would support it.
