Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
I am an ASM and had no issues updating MB Counselors for our youth until now. The new Scoutbook Plus states “Merit Badge Counselor assignment can be performed in Scoutbook Legacy.” However, when I tried to to update in Scoutbook Legacy I got the following error:
“Whoops! We encountered an error trying to process your request.
Is the issue only with a particular scout or scouts, or is it every scout you try?
The SUAC team likely needs more data to investigate. The best starting point would be the Scouting America Member IDs for the affected scouts (no names please!), and the path you took to connect the MBC. Also, it might be relevant whether the MBC is already connected to the scout (e.g. unit scouter who is also MBC or already connected for another MB). If the SUAC needs more details to report the issue, they’ll reach out.
MBC Search has been inconsistent for some time - it is a known issue - if the MBC is a leader in Unit and already connected to the scout - just go to Legacy Scout > Connections > and click MBC box for the individual. If not it is easier for the MBC to connect to the scout through the MBCs My Connections > Add Connection
For any of our Youth that have a MB Counselor assigned, I get the error when I try and open the MB using Legacy Scoutbook. If no Counselor is assigned, then the MB will open and I get the option to assign one. This may be larger issue.
@ErikRichards I do not see this - you unassign in the Scouts Connection not the MB Page - go to scout connections > find MBC either end the connection or unselect that MB
