Youth Camp Staff Position Code

Hello,
I apologize if this isn’t the right category for this, there didn’t seem to be one where it would fit well.

I am going to be serving as a weekend camp staff starting later this month. I am currently under the age of 18.

There seems to be a lot of conflicting information out there on how to fill out the bsa application for camp staff. Here’s what I know:

  • All camp staff need to submit a bsa application, even if they are already registered in another capacity (which I am).
  • The position code is either 68 or 49 depending on where you look.
  • There isn’t a spot on the youth application to put a position code

I have served on staff at various bsa summer camps before, but for some reason I never ran into this issue. I plan on asking my director about what she thinks I should do, but I was curious if there might be an official answer from the National Council. Thanks for your help. :slight_smile:

position code 49 is for Council camp staff (adult—18 or older)*
position code 68 is for Council camp staff (youth—under 18)

I would recommend contacting the director or the council service center to confirm, but that is what I found on page 26 (or 24) of the BSA Registration Guidebook. So it looks to me like you would fill out a youth application and write position code 68 - Council camp staff (youth—under 18) on it somewhere where there’s some space.
