Adding a MBC to scout "Connection already exists"

I’m a parent, unit Admin, and MBC. A parent last night told me she couldn’t connect to MBC as she didn’t know the city/state of the MBC. That didn’t sound like what I recalled, so I tried it from my scout’s account by adding MB, then + Invite Counselor. I put in my own city/state, which did work to find intended MBC, but the MBC is also a unit ASM (therefore already connected to the scout), and got the error.

  1. Where is documentation of the new process? I’m not finding any support pages on a parent clicking on + Invite Counselor.
  2. How do I proceed in the example in video?

@Lithigin first - please do not post things with Scout names or personal information like the video had.

That MBC is already connected to the Scout - just as the error said. Go to Scout Page > Connections > find the user and click Merit Badge Counselor if not already checked, and add the correct Merit BAdge

Thank you for removing it after you viewed.

Thank you; that worked! Please direct me to public documentation with the instructions you gave here so that we can update our troop instructions. I’m seeing why so many families now say they can’t figure it out and both they and we are frustrated. The process seems to have changed from when they could search and connect after Advancement approves the MB and gives them the name of the MBC.
This is the primary resource page that I’m referencing: How do I assign merit badge counselors to a Scout? (SB) - Scoutbook Knowledge Base

I see no instruction on what to do if the Connection already exists, and it’s very common that the family (or Admin) wouldn’t know why a Connection exists already since many are Committee members, ASMs from boy or girl troops that they’ve never met, etc. The error popup could also be edited to say to go to Scout > Connections > Find Connection > Click Name > Click radio button next to MB.

Is that page designed only for Admins? Parents without Admin access cannot follow the first step:

Last I checked, non-registered parents don’t have the access to complete the connection search, and it unfortately just returned no result instead of telling them they don’t have the access.
