Advancement notes missing after switch from SB to SB+

As Scoutmaster for a troop, I use the “post note” feature extensively to attach notes to every SBSA rank requirement that gets marked completed. This allows me to expand on the initials (add the full name) that will appear in the physical book, even if the person who enters it into SB is not the one who initialed in the book (my youth leaders who I have authorized to sign-off requirements are generally not the ones to enter it into SB). Additionally, I tend to keep descriptive info in the notes about when/where/how a scout completed the requirement with me. None of these notes seems to have migrated to the new SB+ advancement display. I have just experimented and entered new advancement in SB+, and posted a note with that advancement, and I see that it works, but none of the history for previously completed advancement has notes in SB+.

(I am quietly freaking out that those notes could have become permanently inaccessible to me, since I can no longer view them in SB, either.)

@CraigAgricola can you give an Scout MID and a Req example you might know

Well, it’s hard, because the notes are not there, but for instance Scout MID 13454895 is a Star Scout as of May of this year. His Scoutmaster Conference (Star rank requirement 7) was 5/7/2025, and we also marked his Star rank requirement 2 completed from that conversation as well. I know I signed his book, so the beginning of the missing comments for both of those would be:

Initialed CBA (Craig B Agricola)

and there was possibly a second line (a little more free-form, and less predictable) that could have just been something to remind me the context in which we completed it. (Scoutmaster conferences often don’t require much additional context, so it’s possible that I only had the one line.)

So, that’s an example where I’m quite sure that there are missing notes, but I don’t see notes on any of my scouts’ rank requirements, and there should be notes on most of them (especially if I am the one who marked them complete [my MID is 132452283]). My Advancement Chair is on-board with the way that I comment all the requirements, and we’ve been pretty good about doing it, so in my troop of 26, I’d be surprised if there weren’t hundreds of missing notes.

Just came here to report same issue. We have numerous comments across all of our Scout’s Rank Requirements that are no longer associated or viewable in the new SB+ advancement area.

Example - Scout Member ID = 13709719, SB YouthProfile ID = 11636642, Requirement 1st Class #1a. There should be a list of activities and dates as a comment(s)

@TimothyRoseberry

Thank you for the details. The developers have been notified.

I came to the Forum to report the exact same concern. My Troop uses the comments field a lot and none of that information has transferred over. We use it to list activities, Board of Review members, service project hours for specific rank requirements, etc. Please transfer that information over.

The developers assure us they are there and it’s just an issue with the API not being set properly to see them.

Whew! That’s a relief.

This is a known issue. The developers are working on a fix. Watch Scoutbook - Scoutbook Plus Change Log - Scouting Forums for an announcement of a fix.

Please, verify. This is a real challenging issue for those of us who use the feature that was encouraged to be used. To contemplate losing historical data and notes to ourselves and others is anxiety provoking.

@KennethCrannell

No data has been lost. There is an issue preventing display in Scoutbook Plus. The developers are aware and working on a fix.

Is this also impacting images stored with comments? It seems like only one image per comment is being displayed, even if there were multiple images with that comment in Scoutbook Legacy.

I’m Advancement Chair, and I took a picture of the rank advancement pages for documentation whenever I transferred information from physical signoff to the electronic system. For Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class, that meant two or three images, so I know that there were images that I don’t see anymore in Internet Advancement.

@ErinHack - the notes and images are in the same space so watch the change log for an update.

Is there an ETA for the fix? It’s really frustrating to be told “watch the change log” when it’s impacting current activities right at the beginning of the scout year. I’m not sure why this transition was done when most units are starting activities for the year. We just got a survey about the “pain points” we feel as unit leaders, and IT issues was one of my top 3.

Scouting America IT does not release timelines. The SUaC has told IT that this is a hot issue that needs to be given priority.

Same issue. Notes, photos, video clips, workbook pages Scouts have uploaded as evidence of completion, awaiting MB Counselor approval, all lost in migration. Disheartening.

As we have stated multiple times. This is a known issue. No notes were lost, they are just not being displayed. The developers are working on a solution.
