Are parents linked to cub scout - how to tell?

I have some cubs that we aren’t certain the parents get the emails sent out from Old Scoutbook or calendar reminders in Scoutbook Plus. When I look at the child in Old Scoutbook the little chain icon shows the parent names but chain is unlinked on some. Is there a similar way to check this in Scoutbook Plus?

How can we add a second Parent in Scoutbook Plus for each cub?

Can we send out a blanket email to an entire den in Scoutbook Plus like we could in the Old Scoutbook? OR am I going to have to send everything through the pack gmail account - meaning parents will need to be on the lookout for possibly 3 points of contact emails for pack related reminders/invitations

What about adding parents and making sure they are linked through scoutbook plus? I don’t want them to feel pestered but need to make sure they get the information we send out and they can participate in marking adventures they work on as a family. Feels like we are getting less participation from parents on this front and they get furstrated they don’t get the info.

@LianneRutty Legacy Scoutbook can still be used to add parents - under Scout > Connections > Add Connection - go under Search to add new Adult Account if the parent does not have an account

That functionality has not moved to scoutbook plus yet.

I am trying to figure out how to make sure that the correct account for the parent is linked so that they show up in the YPT reports that we can pull. Some parents are saying they have taken YPT, but the account that is linked shows never taken. I am sure there is a second my.scouting account that they are using under a different email. How is the best way to go about this?

@MelisaLeblanc it is nothing you can do to solve it - it is a matter of parents comparing the MID (BSA#) in Scoutbook, to the MID when they look at YPT, They probably have different logins.

It is rather complex as you want to parents to have the Registration connection to their Scout also for renewal and business purposes.

If a parent logs into my.scouting.org they should be able to see most of this:

  1. Connection to Scout under My Applications
  2. YPT under My Training.
  3. MID under My Profile

So if the MID under My.scouting is different from Scoutbook - they can TRY to log into my.scouting.org > Click Manage Member ID > one of the BSA # will be there marked PRIMARY > then add the other MID (BSA #) — It will work if Full name and DOB match up, otherwise it will fail. All training will merge to the MID marked Primary, BUT Connection for Renewal will not move, only council can change that. So if just a parent and not a leader, the MID with Connection in My.scouting is the most important usually.

As I am sure you are probably aware, this process is WAAAAAY beyond the capability of most parents to care to accomplish. LOL! Would the best process be for me to just call the council and have them fix all of the issues with parents who are not connected correctly? I want our YPT and Med reports to be way more seamless than they currently are.

Councils might not be able to correct or fix it. MIDs are Council Specific and Isolated. They can only see and work worth MIDs generated in their own council. So if a parent is using a MID from a different council your council will not be able to do anything other than making a new MID in Council for your council. Even then to merge training, the parent will still have to take the Manage Member ID step.

Council can solve the Registration Relationships MAYBE depending again on the MID the parent is using.

Having all parents take YPT is a unit decision in most cases, and the unit has no way to control or affirm the MIDs the parents are using for the process.

We require all adults to be YPT trained if they are attending an overnight event. We really prefer them all just to be trained no matter what. Thanks for the help!
