As a parent, Unable to renewing a Youth

I am reaching out regarding an issue with renewing one of my children’s Youth Scout memberships.

Here are the details of my setup for your reference:

  1. Hardware: Desktop
  2. Operating System: macOS 15.1
  3. Browsers: Safari and Chrome
  4. Troubleshooting steps taken: Cleared browser cache and tried using private browsing mode.

Membership details:

  • Council: Capitol Area Council 564
  • Member IDs:
    • 136564843
    • 14106529

The issue is that I have two children for renewal, but only one renewal notification appears. I cannot see a renewal option for the member with ID 136564843 under notifications.

Could you please assist in resolving this issue so I can complete both renewals?

Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please let me know if you require any additional information.

@DineshGautam - your council registrar will need to add your parent relationship to your other scout

@DineshGautam The issue is that you have 2 BSA member ID numbers, and your “relationship” (in my.Scouting) is under the one that ends in -035.

As a temporary fix, you can log in to your account at my.Scouting and use Manage Member ID to make that BSA member ID number (the one ending in -035) primary, so that you can renew your other child.

However, you will still need to contact your local council:

ending in -035 - Has registrations as Tiger Adult Partner, but your last name is misspelled.
ending in -046 - Last name is spelled correctly.

The local council needs to pick one to use as “primary”. Then they need to use their Registrar Tools to look up your children and remove your parent / child “Relationships” from your BSA member ID number that is secondary. And then they need to add your BSA member ID number that is primary. Your parent / child “relationships” should only be under your primary BSA member ID number to help prevent future issues.

Thank you for your prompt response. I am able to renew my membership. However, I need to resolve an issue with two BSA member IDs linked to the same email address through the local council. Is there a helpline number or email address to contact them for deactivating one of the IDs?

@DineshGautam Every council is different. At your local council, you probably want the person who can help with membership records.

Your issue is that your parent / child “relationships” are split between your 2 BSA member ID numbers (MIDs). Your relationships need to be consolidated under a single (primary) BSA MID, and removed from the other (secondary) MID. Depending on which MID they decide to set as primary, they might also need to correct the spelling of your last name.
