I am trying to connect our newly crossed-over Scouts with our troop leaders. “Full Control” is not an option for any or our registered ASMs and CMs.
Thank you for any advice.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth

Connection Manager is broken. It can be done one by one unfortunately
Dear Donovan,
Thanks for the information.
Do you know if there are plans to fix this? I do not have time to type in information about 12 leaders for 22 new Scouts. 264 times.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth
Out of curiosity, if one made the “target” scouters Unit Admins in Scoutbook, then revoked the Unit Admin role, would the Full Control permissions persist? I’m wondering if that’s a quick-and-dirty work-around for assigning Full Control permissions to all scouts until the Connections Manager gets fixed.
Maybe do by patrol that way - with Patrol Admin role - not 100% sure on connection roll back honestly @edavignon @JenniferOlinger ? But I bet if ou put all in one patrol , made adults patrol admin of that patrol, then move scouts the connection would remain
Dear Charley,
I have thought of this idea. Can I have as many admins as I want.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth
Dear Donovan,
I think the unit admin approach is easier. Then I only have to update 12 adults.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth
I do not understand what you mean by add one by one.
I’ve tried to go scout by scout and add a connection and it shows our adult leader as a registered adult leader in our system and roster.
When I try to add a connection to new scouts it says it cannot find record of him. I have put in his name, BSA ID number and email address and it continues to give the same message that his record is not found.
First, give the new leaders View Profile by clicking on their name(s) in Connection Manager. Next go to each Scout’s connection page, click on the new leader’s name and set the desired connection type.
Connections are not reset when Admin is ended provided the leader is still on the unit roster.
In general, ASMs and Committee Members should not have full control of Scouts. They should be limited to View or Edit connections. There are very few people in a unit who actually need full control. The Key 3, Key 3 Delegates are admins by default and will have Full Control. The Treasurer needs full control if your unit uses Payment Log. Beyond these individuals, very few if any need full control.
And my den leaders and treasurer are unable to gain full control credentials on any of the new scouts. It has been quite frustrating.
@StephanieHuston All of your Den Leaders should also be Den Admins for their dens, and Den Admins should automatically have full control permissions to the Scouts in their dens.
You might need to reset their Den Admin roles. In Scoutbook:
Yup, and they are position approved but I can still not give them access to the kids in their den or to the Treasurer.
@StephanieHuston If you would like, I can try resetting their Den Admin roles. I would need to make myself a Pack Admin for your pack.
