Can you please check this again - it is now functioning for me for ranks
Yes, mine seems to be working now. Rank advancement is showing up now (in addition to the merit badges). THANK YOU!
I am having the same issue with Scoutbook Plus. Our scouts who earned Totin Chit and Fireman Chit are not showing on the PO. Only MB imported from Blackpug via .CSV as complete are showing on the PO - partials completed and advancement are not.
Try refreshing and possibly clearing your cache. The PO issue was fixed earlier today but may require a clear cache to show the correct data.
@TimothyCampbell2 - the black pug import does not import rank items. If I understand the statement about partials, items that are partially completed will not show up to be purchased as they are incomplete.
So, in addition to being released wholly untested, foisted on us in the middle of Summer Camp season and making a royal mess of things, Scoutbook Plus is MINUS functionality that was available in Scoutbook? Just who thought this class 1 fiasco up? Why would rank no longer migrate in? Clearly Awards also do not migrate as well. Is there anything actually DOES work in SB+?
How do we back out of this mess? Our entire advancement is so screwed up, we are going back to books and reviewing the historical Summer Camp .CSVs just to recreate our scouts records. Now you’re saying just stick with paper, since SB+ doesn’t work at all. And this is AFTER months of “fixes.” I really don’t know what to say. If this happened at work I’d format the server and start over…
There is no going back to legacy Scoutbook.
The black pug import NEVER imported anything other than Merit Badges. Scoutbook Plus and Scoutbook share the same database. No advancement has been lost.
The developers are working on and releasing fixes as fast as they can. Scouting America is not Microsoft or Apple with seemingly unlimited dollars and development staff.
If you have specific Scouts you would like us to investigate, post their Scouting America Member ID (no names) and what you believe is missing and we can check the DB.
Every scout I have is screwed up. And you are wrong - I have been importing Blackpug for five years - advancement and MB every year without a hitch. Awards never went, but that was a small price to pay. Scouting America may not be Microsoft, but anyone who ever coded a character knows not to release untested code. There is no way SB+ was tested, as not a single thing works. With the number of volunteers who work in IT, Scouting America should be able to do better than this.
We will just have to revert to paper and not use the only tool SA offers like it’s 1990 all over again. SB+ may work in a couple of years, but given the number of errors in SB, I will be advising my troop never to trust Scouting America software again. Troopmaster costs money, but at least it’s reliable.
Respectfully, that can’t be the case. The developer of the black pug import feature in the extension said it wasn’t supported last year, long before the transition to SB+:
@TimothyCampbell2 - the documentation for the feature assistant says merit badge import only
Saying Every Scout does not help. We need Scouting America Member IDs (no names) and what is wrong. The folks who investigate and report to developers are volunteers just like you. We are not detectives and will not spend our time trying to assist with general statements like you have provided. If you provide specifics we will be happy to look into it for you.
You seem pretty certain of yourself. Frankly, I am amazed that you were able to import rank requirements from Black Pug. You must be very special. Considering I wrote the VOLUNTEER created extension ON MY OWN TIME and I can absolutely guarantee there is NO CODE in it to support rank imports.
I get that you’re a wee bit upset and cranky. I remember being a little bit the same way back in the earlier days when Legacy Scoutbook was newer and didn’t do what I would have liked. Difference being - I did something positive about it and tried to help contribute, on my own time without a penny from the organization.
Its easy to complain - but why not espouse some of the Scouting values and actively look for and report issues so they can be fixed, with enough supporting detail? It is something you can do to help. Try to make it better for others…
