Calendars missing in Scouting Mobile app

I am a member of three different units and we used to see calendar items from all three in the scouting mobile app. Not sure what happened, but now I can only see them for only one unit. I have made sure to select them calendars drop down but it makes no difference. I can see them when I log into SB+ and go to calendars so I know they are there. Is this a bug or an I doing something wrong?

@GlynDobson are you a parent in all 3 units? The Scouting app is just for parents and scouts - so that might be effecting it.

Yes, I am a parent (and leader) in all three units and made sure that everyone is on the invites for the events. It was working a couple of weeks ago because I was promoting the use of the calendar with one of the units.

@GlynDobson - are you perhaps in off-line mode ? You might be better with making a shortcut on your home screen for advancements.scouting.org

I confirmed I’m not in offline mode. In fact, I can see one of the events for one of the units on 5/4 but cant see the other event on the same day for the same unit (or the other units). I’m wondering if it’s to do with the migration that is scheduled on 5/5. Hopefully it will be fixed - I thought the app was pretty good but if it’s not reliable I’ll stop promoting it.

The app is always behind the website when it comes to features and fixes. If you want the latest, use the website.

What you are seeing has nothing to do with the maintenance this week.

How do we get a bug report raised for this? This was 100% working previously. I checked with a few others in the troop (some of which have access to other units and some only one unit) and they are seeing the same issue. If the consensus is that we should use the website, that’s fine, but since the app exists, and has a much better user experience, it would be good to get it working again.

It has been asked to be looked at - but the website does everything and more than the app does. Why people want an app so bad is something I do not understand.

@GlynDobson - i would disagree about the user experience and as you are now experiencing it is not reliable. Stick with advancements.scouting.org instead. I think that the app being marked as beta since its inception is telling

The app is easy to use for kids and parents who are not tech savvy. Open, Face ID into it and there is all your info. No need to have to worry about screen format or real estate and not being able to navigate it easily on a small screen. That said, I didn’t realize the app was considered beta though so I should adjust my expectations and primarily use the website.

If anyone is looking into the calendar issue, it does only seem to be an issue if someone is linked to multiple units. I have confirmed that other leaders linked to multiple units only see entries for one of the units. Those linked to only a single unit are able to see the entries for their particular unit. Reproduced on iOS, not sure if it’s the same on Android. Happy to provide screen shots or pull device logs if needed.

As I recall, you have to select which child you are looking at in the app. If you select a child in a different unit before going to the calendar, does it change anything?

No - unfortunalty not. No matter which child I select, it always shows the calendar entries from only one of the units and it’s always the same unit.

Apart from April 20th, that one works - I can see all three units. Must be something magic about that day…

@DonovanMcNeil Something very strange, just downloaded the app onto my iPad in the hope of getting better screen shots and it works fine there! Same app version on both devices. Checked on my iPhone again and the issue still exists. Deleted and re-installed the app on my phone and… it’s working fine! I’m guessing something corrupted with the app data, perhaps with a recent update. I’ll check with the other leaders that were experiencing the issue and see if just a logout and back in fixes it. Otherwise i’ll have them reinstall. I think we can close this out now. Appreciate the help!
