Can multiple accounts be merged here or do I need to go through my DE?

Hi I have 2 accounts that need to be merged. It is an adult leader. I can not input her email into her current account as it is already connected to an older account which is connected to her child.
Are you able to do this?

current: 13554725 old: 136885250

I am in the same boat as Rebecca Clark. I am an adult leader with a scout (miliary family) who recently moved from the US to Japan and somehow has two accounts. I can only see one account, which does not have the advancement sync option enabled so I am able to enter awards but not approve them. I contacted my council and they instructed me to reach out to Scoutbook to have the accounts merged. Can you please merge accounts 137101370 and 136839936? We have tried everything here at our level (to the best of my knowledge) but just can’t seem to fix the issue. Thank you.

@JeremyEverett I will send you a direct message > look at top right Avatar to find it > it will be a green dot with a number 1 > it will be a private message channel with select members of the Scoutbook User Advisory Council (SUAC)

Military Scouts are disproportionately affected by these issues. It’s very unfortunate. Half my troop is military. I had 1 scout arrive with FOUR SCOUTBOOK ACCOUNTS, each with a different piece of his Scouting history attached. THAT was a mess!!!

The best way I’ve found to minimize this is by transferring the scout’s Scoutbook account in before submitting the paperwork to council, and making it as blatant as possible that the scout has an existing BSA ID from another council. It takes a ton of work on the front end, but it’s the only thing that really seems to make a significant impact on the system. Until BSA goes to a system using a single BSA ID across all councils it’s likely going to continue to be an issue, even when units/families theoretically do everything “right”.

Here are some things units can do to help reduce the creation of duplicate / multiple Scoutbook accounts:

I need help with this as well. I have my original BSA ID- 12795319 that was merged successfully with the BSA id that got “created” when I re-did YPT this summer.

Now I am a part of units in 2 councils and when the 2nd council added me, they added me under a 13705122 and our unit admin asked them to combined it into my 12795319. When that occurred, I lost being able to see anything in scoutbook on any of my units or my own children. my.scouting lists all the units I am apart of but it states that I am not a “part of a registered unit”. The council office said they can’t help me because it deals with another council. I need to be able to enter information on my troop since I do advancement.

What can I do since I am an active volunteer with 5 units over 2 different councils? I have children in units in both councils.

Just FYI: our council actually tells us NOT TO do this. They literally say “DO NOT put them in Scoutbook until we put them in Scoutbook.” I wish everyone could be on the same page.

And yes, I make it clear as a bell that they have another BSA number. I tape it to the application.

Next time I will try it this way and see what happens.

This sounds like they’re trying to avoid people creating Scoutbook accounts for new (not just new-to-council) scouts, and have mistakenly extended this to scouts who already have Scoutbook accounts.

@RebeccaClark I have seen it work, provided that the Edit Profile and Scout’s Membership pages are updated and match the Scout’s BSA youth application.

I have a Den Leader that has 2 BSA# and 2 User IDs.

The account that has her correct email address is BSA # 13229487 and that one is marked with the yellow triangle and exclamation point. This is the one that she has access to and uses!

The other account has the “changemyemail@scoutbook.com” and BSA# 134813266.

I need these merged and her actual email address on the resulting account… are you able to help? I’ve asked Council for help and they say they merged them, but they are both still there.

Please let me know what steps we need to take. Thank you.

Jennifer,

The Council has not merged anything. Both BSA Member IDs (MIDs) are still active. The Council should retire MID 13229487.

I have fixed her SB Account. She needs to log in with her my.scouting.org ID that does not include @gmail.com.

She is no longer visible to me in Scoutbook at all. Should I add her back or does she need to do something in my.scouting.org first?

I did find her and saw the notes you left about ending her positions. I’ve added them back to 134813266 account and seem to be all set. Thank you. I have more that I will be posting. I am excited to have our roster cleaned up after several years!

@edavignon
Two more Den Leaders that have 2 BSA #s.

ONE
The account that has her correct email address is BSA # 12764050.
The account with “changeyouremail” is BSA # 12057892.

TWO
Correct email address has BSA # 135338785
“Changeyouremail” has BSA # 13733398

Can you please merge these?
Thank you!

Jennifer,

I have fixed both of these accounts. I have sent you a private message with details because I had to include identifying information in my reply as there are changes you need to have your council make to the registration.

Click on the orange circle with white J in the upper right corner of your forum window.

Please merge Member IDs
13018377 (new)
128162538 (old)

@RachelIreland either your council can do that -
or log into my.scouting.org > click Menu top left > Click Manage Member ID > one of the BSA # will be there marked PRIMARY > then add the other MID (BSA #) - you want to make the one that is your unit registration PRIMARY > Then go to Scoutbook.com and log in using your my.scouting.org credentials

When we transferred a scout to our troop something got messed up with his ID. We were never given permission to add him to a patrol. The BSA number is 129510749. Now since recharter there is another account for the same scout with no BSA number. Can this be corrected and our troop be given access to place him in a patrol? Thank you.
