I have been having trouble loging in to Scoutbook Plus can anybody help ?
@JosephineAkiki - a bit more detail would be helpful like an error message of some kind
I used to have a full access to my Son’s Scoutbook Plus and in the last week all I see when i try to login to his account is a page that is not loaded properly. Here is what I see
@JosephineAkiki - does it look the same if you use chrome and these are his credentials that you are using. One thing I do note is that there is no date joined scouts BSA
@JosephineAkiki Your Scout appears to be registered in more than one council.
Which troop/council is responsible for recording the Scout’s advancements?
Yes my scout has a dual membership and the scoutbook was working properly until last week when i lost access to it.
I need help with that please. it is so frustrating. my scout is in the process of advancing and now i can not access his record.
@JosephineAkiki In order to help you, I need to know which council is primary for your Scout?
He is in Troop 111 in National Capital council and in Troop 257 trance Atlantic council.
@JosephineAkiki Yes, but which troop is primarily responsible for recording the Scout’s advancements?
for now it is Troop 257
@JosephineAkiki I think this is fixed. You might be able to log in now, but if that doesn’t work, wait 24 hours and try again.
Thank you so much for helping me regain access — I really appreciate all the time and effort you put in. Your help made a big difference.
Best regards
Josephine
To expand a bit on why Jennifer kept asking about which unit if primary, the system is not well designed to handle multiple simultaneously active Scouting America Member IDs for a single individual. As a result, when different councils (which by definition means different member IDs) cycle at slightly different times, it can adversely impact how the system behaves.
This architecture is largely a result of historical assumptions that any given scout or scouter would only be registered in one council at a time, and that separate tranches of member IDs for each council are necessary to prevent multiple individuals from being assigned the same member ID. The latter is largely a holdover from the old paper processes that then-BSA used prior to the various linked databases. However, national has been slow to move to a single unified set of member IDs that are council-agnostic. This is likely at least in part due to trying to figure out what might break if they did so.
