Can youth use the same Scoutbook Account in 3 different Councils?

We have a youth registered in a Troop in our Council who is also registered in two different Ships which are in two different Councils from ours. That’s 3 different Councils. The dad claims that at one time they were able to access all advancements records from one SB account. He wants to know why he can’t anymore and how to make so they can. SB User ID2333011. TIA

These discussions are generally more productive when the individuals involved are posting here in the boards, since it allows more direct exchange of information. The system doesn’t handle multiple cross-council registrations well, so I’m surprised to hear that he ever had ready access to all of the advancement information through Scoutbook.

@KennethLaCrosse only One Member ID is on each SB User - so that means only one Council per Scoutbook User. So if in 3 councils, that means 3 Scoutbook Users and none of the Advancement is going to match or sync up. What is usually suggested is to keep one user with all advancement up to date.

Or in this case, maybe 2: 1 for the troop and one for the ship (that is primary for Sea Scout advancements).

The council can copy you over using your member ID from the other council. You just have to go request it. Or at least they can for adults so I presume they can do the same for kids.

@BartHumphries

Councils can only copy completed advancement, however, the issue here is the Scout is active in multiple Councils. When a Council copies advancement, it is a snapshot of the current record that is being copied. This does not help the Scout that is registered in multiple Councils because continued advancement will still only remain on the MID where it was recorded.

Being registered in multiple councils causes many issues, none of which are easily solvable. We typically recommend all advancement for a Scout be recorded in a single Council so that the record does not become fractured.
