I am a Den Admin and have a key in scoutbook, but I am unable to select a calendar or event type. I have another son who is part of a troop and I am not in a leadership position that might be causing an issue.
Your Den Admin role is not tied to any particular den.
The Den Admin role needs to be associated with a specific den in Scoutbook.
