Can't start MBs in Scoutbook for new crossover scout

Hello,
This is my first time handling a crossing over cub scout as advancement chair. The scout has already started on a few merit badges with the troop, but I can not go into the scouts advancement to assign merit badges to them. I can do everything in this scout’s records, just not merit badges. When I click on add merit badge, it takes me back to my Scoutbook dashboard. And FYI, it shows that have I have full control over the scout’s allowance, so it is not that. The only thing I can think of is that the scout is still showing as a member of their pack. Could that be causing the inability to assign merit badges?

If you could provide the scout’s bsa id, the SUAC folks can help you faster.

Please forgive me, but what is SUAC?

Scoutbook User Advisory Council. They are volunteers who have access to the BSA systems and can help with problems like this.

Where would I provide this scout id? In this same thread or a new one? I have never used the forum before, so I am a little unsure how this all goes. Thank you for your patience.

You can just post it here and they will see it in a few minutes most likely.

Thank you for your help!

@CrystalWorsham This Scout has current registrations in a pack and a troop.

Please contact your local council and ask them to end the Scout’s pack registration.

This will definitely cause problems with their advancement. If the pack has awarded all of the scout’s ranks, etc, then putting an end date on the pack membership should fix the issue.

Have they actually been transferred to the troop (i.e. submitted a transfer application to council), or were they just moved in Scoutbook? Moving them in Scoutbook does not, by itself, actually execute registration in the troop. One way to check this is to see if the scout appears on the troop’s official roster at my.scouting. It’s visible to unit Key 3 and Key 3 delegates.

@CharleyHamilton The Scout is registered in both the pack and the troop, so the council needs to end the registration with the pack.

Thank you all that replied. I thought it would be the double enrollment, but wanted to double check it before I just assumed it was the problem. I will get with the appropriate people to sort it out at our next meeting.

Thanks again for all the help!

Crystal

In Scoutbook, you can try ending the Scout’s membership with the pack. However, I think it will come back with the automatic membership update process, because of the Scout’s dual registration.
