Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
right now we are using Teamsnap for all our scheduling.
The Teamsnap app allows any player to go into the app, create an email and send it to either everyone, or select the specific individuals they wish their email to be sent.
I don’t see this functionality in MyScouting…am I just missing this feature somewhere?
@NicoleAllen3- my.scouting doe not have a message feature, This is however messaging in socutbook classic. It is there in dashboard and in the unit page.
I think you meant Scoutbook. SB has this as long as the Scout has logged in once. So, it takes time to get everyone on board initially. Then, someone needs to make sure new scouts do the same in the future.
Yes thank you. I just got off the phone with my council rep and she confirmed that it’s only in Scoutbook legacy, not Scoutbook Plus. At least for now. Thx
To opt in to or out of Scoutbook emails, log in to your Scoutbook account, go to My Dashboard, then click My Account, and select Email. To opt out, toggle the Messaging Opt-Out slider to the right until it has a red background, and to opt back in, toggle it to the left until the background is gray. Scoutbook admins cannot change this setting; only the individual user can.
To Opt-Out
Log in: to your Scoutbook account.
Navigate to My Dashboard.
Click on My Account.
Select E-Mail.
Move the Messaging Opt-Out slider to the right so the background turns red.
Confirm the action if a pop-up appears.
To Opt-In (or Back In)
Log in: to your Scoutbook account.
Navigate to My Dashboard.
Click on My Account.
Select E-Mail.
Toggle the Messaging Opt-Out slider to the left, so the background turns gray.
Confirm the pop-up message indicating you are now opted in.
Important Considerations
Individual Accounts Only:
Opt-out preferences are set individually and cannot be changed by Scoutbook administrators or parents for other members.
No “No Emails” Status:
When Messaging Opt-Out is on, the “No Emails” text will appear next to the user’s name when sending messages.
Password/Username Emails:
You may still receive emails for forgotten passwords and usernames, even when opted out.
Add to Whitelist:
To ensure messages from Scoutbook get to your inbox, add the address scoutbook.donotreply@scouting.org to your email’s approved senders list or whitelist.
Spam Folder:
Check your spam or junk folder, as some emails may be routed there.
