Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
I was wondering why when we import MB’s after camp, they all import and show the SM name who imported them. The SM is of course not the MB counselor, and for many scouts, a large portion of MB’s are from camp, and it makes it look like the SM was the counselor for the majority of their badges. Are we doing something wrong?
That is audit data. There is a difference between MBC approved and leader approved. In the case of MBCs who don’t use scoutbook (ie, rely on physical blue cards), a leader entering it for record keeping purposes is perfectly acceptable. It would be improper audit data to list an MBC’s name when they in fact were not the one who entered it in the system.
Well an MBC cannot be forced to use scoutbook - so even if assigned they may not ever enter anything - and thinking on it how would you assign an MBC in a camp situation in Scoutbook
@MarkHolley - on Donovan’s thought you would need to look up the counselor and often times it is the program director at the camp that does the mass sign-off on behalf of the staff at that merit badge class.
i just took a look at the MB file from Rodney SR and the cards were signed off by a DMVC which is Del-Mar-VA council. So, there would be no real way of knowing who the MBC was except to guess based on a staff directory.
