Den Admin can't enter advancements in Scoutbook+

@ShawnSingh it’s a frustrating way to make a first post, but welcome!

I have been pursuing this same problem on a different topic as well as on this one; @DonovanMcNeil (who is a Scoutbook Advisory Committee member) worked with me earlier today via that other topic, and was really helpful-- I screenshared with him, and showed him what I had been doing / how things had been failing for me-- we didn’t get to the bottom of the problem, but we DID capture a big chunk of code that DESCRIBED the problem, and he has sent it on for processing!

So, no solution thus far, but hope springs eternal!

@tristandalley I really apricate your attitude on these items. As you can see, all of our hands are pretty tied on what we can do. But! There is a path of hope as you saw! See a bug, see if it has been reported, and if not, help the SUAC people gather enough data to get the bug recorded. Then, and really only then, do we have a chance for improvement. It can be SUPER frustrating, but then we can take that energy and channel it where it can be used to help everyone!

No problem, @Matt.Johnson ! It’s for the kids! (Also, and I say this with humour and gravitas-- it’s ALSO for the Eagle Scout dad who “checks up” on the Denleaders via Scoutbook to check & see if their kid’s Advancements have updated… but it’s MOSTLY for the kids! )

you probably can enter completions unapproved - then use Scoutbook Needs approval report to approve

@DonovanMcNeil I realized I needed to actually TRY your idea, rather than just thinking about it!

I just tried recording (without approving) via Quick Entry the Swimming Adventure for a) all four boys, then b) for just three of them, then c) for just two of them, and finally d) for just one.

I made sure on the last try that I excluded the scout who we thought might be problematic because they originally came up “v2022.”

Sadly, no dice on any of the above.

And (because I’m a completist), I just tried manually recording (but not approving) the individual requirements for the Swimming Adventure on the one scout of my four who wasn’t “v2022,” nor my son… and I got the API warning.

It DID, however, allow me to enter a comment, and allowed me to upload a picture, which is an improvement on before!

I’m sure you’re tired of my updates.

I don’t know the significance, here-- but I was able comment and upload a picture to my son’s Profile, AND I was able to record (but not approve) all of his Swimming Adventure requirements. When I tried to approve I got the typical “user cannot approve requirement,” and (to say it out loud) Den Admin was selected, not “Parent.”

@tristandalley - screen shots and key information goes a long way to narrowing down issues. The more information the better.

@tristandalley - that is perfect. Hopefully this and other nagging issues will get resolved. Especially with good information from the users

Another interesting item. I can add Swimmer status individually, to each of my Scouts, no problem. However, if I try to use Unit Quick Entry → Enter Swimming Classification, I immediately get the API error. This happens BOTH when I leave all items on the roster unselected, AND when I select the four scouts in my Patrol.

@tristandalley - I wonder if listing out where you are able to access and edit and where you hit road blocks would also help out. Like the example above. This does seem like a tricky one where the validation of rights gets in the way in certain instances.

This is also an issue for me but for only the most recently joined scouts (since the platform is now automatically pushing me to Scoutbook Plus). I get API errors :

“Rank not found for the user - userID:13701029 - rankId:8”

“Rank not found for the user - userID:13704309 - rankId:9”

"HTTP: GET on resource “https://coreapipd.netbsa.org:443/api/advancements/users/13701029/ranks/8/failed: not found (404)”

though rank is assigned (I’m even getting it when trying to check off Tiger Rank Requirements on those specific requirements pages, the Quick Entry and every which way possible. The cubs are linked to me as Den Leader, and assigned to Dens and Ranks

@PaulettaStiessberger - in your case i think toggling the rank version should correct the issue. So, on each scout with the issue change it to prior then back to 2024.

In the Swimming status case, I tried Quick Entry from the Pack Roster first, which generated the API error. I screenshot that. Then, I went to the first of my four Scouts that a) wasn’t my child and b) had initially showed up as “v2024.” (IE two of my Scouts had to be manually switched to v2024; since then, I have manually switched ALL back to v2022, and forward to v2024, as a possible reset move, but there’s only one non-my-kid Scout was at v2024, initially.) I then individually assigned “Beginner” rank to my “test” Scout. When that worked, I tried the two that aren’t my own. When that worked, I tried my kid. When that worked, I tried Quick Entry again for all four, to see if I could change them from “Beginner” (set individually) to “Swimmer” as a group. That resulted in the API error again, so I reported back.

This has been my methodology each time-- trying something via Quick Entry from the roster, then individually from a Profile, starting with my only v2024 Scout, and ending with my kid.

Simular but different issue. I am the Cubmaster and trying to put in completed requierments for Sumertime Fun Adventure for scout id 140925524

I get the following message:

I have not received this for other scouts yet.

@DavidBrtva go to that scout - go to the Tiger rank - flip to old version and then back to 2024 version - that solves it

Thank you. That worked. On a different not is their a way to undo an approved requirement if accidently the wrong one was approved?
