Den not accepting new leader and possible leader/parent merge ID issue

Unit ID is 19419 (Pack 3073, WD Boyce Council)
Den ID is 273919 (Tiger Den 2)
I’m the COR.

Parent has stepped up to be a den leader. The member ID showing in IA for him is 140376197.
Turned in his paperwork to Council and it looks like he has a new ID #140408732.

We have a den which shows no den leaders, probably because the previous leader transferred to another unit. When we try to assign a leader using the “Add Leader” button and go through the process to find him and assign him, we’re told Den Position #1 already exists or the den is grayed out and cannot be selected.

If we try to add the role to the adult leader’s profile rather than going through the Den roster screen, Den 2 and a few other dens are grayed out and not selectable.

Can you help us overcome these issues?

@ShannonMollenhauer - for a tiger den it is tiger den leader not den leader

The greyed out dens are because tigers have a different position called “Tiger den leader” and similarly for Webelos.

@ShannonMollenhauer The reason the user has 2 BSA member ID numbers is because the date of birth is different. As a result, he also has 2 Scoutbook accounts. I will work on merging them.

@ShannonMollenhauer I have merged this user’s Scoutbook accounts.

I recommend that the user contact the local council and ask them to use their Registrar Tools to look up his child (or children). In the “Relationships” section, he should be listed as parent only under BSA 140408732. They should remove him if he is listed as parent under any other BSA member numbers.

The reason why is because after Recharter, the BSA MIDs will sometimes get switched around when the parent / child relationships are under a secondary BSA number. This can result in creating another duplicate Scoutbook account.

Oh, I can’t believe I totally missed that. I’ve not been managing roles in SB much. Thanks for clearing that up! So much for consistency. I’m sure there’s a reason DL isn’t a universal role across all ranks dating back who knows how long!

This goes back to before Scoutbook. The position codes are different
Tiger Den Leader - TL
Den Leader - DL
Assistant Den Leader - DA
Webelos Den Leader - WL
Assistant Webelos Den Leader - WA

@ShannonMollenhauer - i posted the BSA position codes pdf a few posts up. Does not hurt for the COR to be familiar as they are the adult application approver.
