How do you remove an adult from your roster who decided not renew their registration?

Thank you!)

@Eric.brown04

Members do not drop from the official roster until

  1. They transfer to another unit
  2. Their membership plus lapse period (currently 3 months) expires.

That isnt right because i am getting blasted for having them on my roster because their training is overdue.

Scouting America policy is they are paid for a year so they remain on the roster for a year. If their YPT has expired, some Councils suspend their membership, but there is a notification process a Council must go through and many do not have the staff to do so and won’t suspend members.

Everyone that monitors the forums is a volunteer. If you have an issue with this policy, you need to discuss it with your Council professional staff.

To the point about YPT. I know this from monitoring and managing the process of a volunteer adult leader letting their YPT expire last year.

Once YPT expires for an adult leader they drop from all of the volunteer facing systems. It’s near instant, it happens overnight in some process. I know it is not a manual action by the council as I spoke with my registrar to understand the process and they did nothing. I cannot speak to the process of restoring YPT, that leader didn’t care and had no problem falling from the roster and no longer being “registered”.

@JohnRennpferd

That is not correct. I have a leader who is still on the my.scouting.org and Scoutbook rosters that had YPT expired 3/6/2025. According to my registrar, there is not an automated process to suspend adults with expired YPT. The Council must manually process the suspension which includes sending a letter to the individual telling them they have been expired.

We have confirmation from Scouting America IT that there are no automated processes to remove a member from a roster when YPT expires. If YPT has expired, a member will be prevented from renewing until YPT is renewed.

Merit Badge Counselors are removed from MB Counselor Search in Scoutbook when their YPT expires but their registration as MBC is not affected.

I will go back to my registrar with this information and see what she says. I am not familiar with who has privilege’s at the council level; any chance there is a third party involved who is dropping YPT expirations?

@JohnRennpferd

I doubt there is anyone outside of your Council suspending members.

I doubt it too, but this conversation breaks my complete understanding of how YPT expirations are handled, and how the expirations impact unit administration/adult leader registrations.
