Duplicate Parent Account

I have a new scout parent that just signed up two scouts. Apparently when being entered into the system two BSA #s were used for her.

  1. Can someone help me get this resolved?
  2. This happens a lot, can someone please tell whoever is putting in this information to check against already created accounts? It’s pretty ridiculous that leaders are constantly running into this problem.

This is a National forum - you need to talk to your council about Data entry. If you post the BSA #s we can take a look on the SB side

Can you message me so I can post the BSA Numbers?

BSA # is perfectly fine to post here

Okay wasn’t sure. These are the duplicates. Also she hasn’t been able to login and hasn’t gotten an email with directions for logging in.

  • 137258322
  • 137258327

this is fixed - if I had to guess this was a group working in a room as these were made within 1.5 minutes of each other. Another reason to do all new registrations 100% online

Oh I agree, but our council keeps pushing paper :frowning:

How do I go about getting her login info to Scoutbook.com to her? Forgot password?

that is a good question - I would advise user to go to my.scouting.org and create an account - use the same data from Scoutbook and system will find here she wants the 137258327 BSA #

Hi Donovan,

It looks like the mom had another BSA account that got created underneath Atlanta Area Council with a BSA #13802422. Can you get that account merged with the ones I mentioned above?

Her account that she is able to login with username dedleman07 is hooked up to the BSA # above and is not connected to our pack, her scouts and she just added a secondary email account. Previously it didn’t have one.

Her correct account which uses dedleman07@gmail.com I don’t have a username for and is the one that is hooked up to her scouts and our pack.

We also have a couple duplicate parent and/or adult leader profiles/accounts:

BSA # 132323790 / UserID 5727467
BSA # 13529823 / UserID 10462195
I contacted Council and they said they cleaned up ScoutNET, keeping BSA # 132323790.

BSA # (none) / UserID 242565
BSA # 13544652 / UserID 10462156

Thanks.

@ByronSah these are merged for you

@DonovanMcNeil Thank you!

Are changes made in Scoutbook also reflected in ScoutNET? For example, if they change contact information.

@DonovanMcNeil Darlene says that nothing has changed, she still isn’t connected with her Scout in Scoutbook. This is getting really frustrating. The parent is a volunteer with our advancements and as of right now she STILL can’t sign in to a scoutbook account that is actually tied to our Pack.

@ByronSah no they do not go from SB to other systems automatically

@Matt I will send you a direct message > look at top right Avatar to find it > it will be a green dot with a number 1 > it will be a private message channel with select members of the Scoutbook User Advisory Council (SUAC)

@DonovanMcNeil The last name of one of our Adult Leaders is correct in ScoutNET but not Scoutbook. He went to his profile to edit it and it’s grayed out. How can it be changed? He said it’s not a big deal, the second “C” should be capitalized. but someone’s name should be correct. BSA Member #132323790, UserID 5727467. Thank you for all your help so far!

I have two other issues. This isn’t the right place to post this, but the first issue is that I can’t start a new topic. The “+ Open Draft” button is shown (and I think it used to be “+ New Topic”), but nothing happens when I click on it. I’ve tried different forums, logging out, opening in a private/incognito window, different browsers, different computers, but nothing works.

The second issue is that my email on this forum is different than what is listed for me in My.Scouting.org or Scoutbook. How can I change it? That’s no longer a valid email and why I haven’t been getting notifications on replies to my posts. When I click the circle at the top right with my initial > person icon > Summary > Preferences, under Email it says, “Email can be updated from authentication provider. Never shown to the public.”

Thanks again.

@ByronSah the Capital C is fixed - Other issues I am no expert on

@DonovanMcNeil Thank you!
