Duplicate Youth Record - Merging records

We had a membership renewal problem and member care instructed our registrar to create a new member and new member ID to fix it. She noted that we’d need to “merge” the records into the new member ID. Is there a way for me (key 3) to do it? If not, can you merge all of the data for member ID (old) 133795375 into the new member id 141465476? I see that his mom is the only one connected to him in scoutbook for his new member ID. What is the best way to connect his dad to his new member id?

@JanellBunger-Spiecha let me guess it was the parent could not renew? Your registrar messed this up it seems. I will clean up to the degree I can - BUT the DOB on the 2 accounts are different so that will need to be checked

I recommend that They contact your local council and ask them to use the Registrar Tools to look up the children. When they look up the children, they want to check children’s “User Relationship” and make sure that children are connected to parent with Only the correct BSA member ID number that they can log into

Like I said - BSA’s own member care told her to do what she did. I’m not going to suggest that she screwed up when doing exactly what she was told to
do. She’s eyeballs deep in dozens of issues like this so I’m not putting any more on her plate. She followed instructions and did what was asked of her and she told us to try to merge the records.

I’m asking if there is a way to merge the records or do I need to manually reenter all the data - losing all of his Cub Scout records in the process. For example, can I export his data, change the member ID and reimport?

Well the SB User is merged for the Scout (Cub stuff is seen with Cub History report - We used the OLD SB User so any partials would be saved). on the parents - the mother is connected in Scoutbook and in AKELA for registration but seems to have never logged in except maybe once to register the scout in your unit. As for the Dad he is connected in SB, but not in AKELA, and the father last logged in day account was made Nov 2020.

Thank you so much! Very appreciated. Especially on a weekend. This would have been a lot of work to re-enter all the data. I’m going to assume that connecting the parents in scoutbook will be handled with new invitations that are accepted.

@JanellBunger-Spiecha You don’t need to invite the parents to connect. They are already connected as a result of merging the Scout’s Scoutbook accounts.

What I would recommend is having both of the parents log in to their accounts at my.Scouting. If they need to reset their password, the best way to do it is at my.Scouting using the chatbot (“Betty”).

After they are able to log in at my.Scouting, then ask them to log in to Scoutbook (legacy) at:

https://scoutbook.scouting.org

It looks like they are both opted out of e-mails from Scoutbook. They can opt back in in Scoutbook (legacy) by going to:

Administration → My Account → Email

then switch the “Messaging Opt-Out” toggle.
