Eagle Palms Earned with Eagle BOR problem

@JDeMeritt I think your issue is that your Scoutbook account is linked to the wrong BSA member number.

I just sent you a private message.

Ok, I did see that I was not listed as primary switched it but still have a problem is the scout earned his Eagle on 11/22/20 but turned 18 two days prior on 11/20/20. Get this message in Internet Advancement: “Completed date for R___ A_____ should not be on or after the youth’s 18th birthday.”

@JDeMeritt That sounds like a bug with Internet Advancement. I will report it to the IA developers.

I sent you another private message.

Do you know if this fix was included in the Jan 5, 2021 Scoutbook Update?

Only the items I listed in today’s change log were fixed today because they did not require code changes. There is a push scheduled for tomorrow night that has fixes that require code changes.

As far as I can tell, this problem has not been fixed. I tried just now to enter a bronze palm for a scout who did his Eagle BOR yesterday, and I’m still getting the error about needing to wait 3 months.

Michael, it worked for me after the last update. Although you can’t add the palms until it gets approved in Scoutbook usually 3 weeks post Eagle BOR and then you still use the actual EBOR date.

You have to wait for national to approve the Eagle

I view that as the bug still being there. See my statement from December – how do I go about being notified that the Eagle has been approved by national, so that I can enter the palm that I should have been able to enter at the same time as the EBOR?

Look for the Eagle to be approved - it will say approved. I always leave Eagles incomplete so one day they just show up

Yes, I understand that it will say approved once it’s approved, but how do I get notified of that? It’s easy to forget to go back and check that weeks after the EBOR to see when it’s approved so that the palms can be entered.

Michael, I don’t know what size troop you have but the reports will show to order the Eagle Rank Patch then you know it is finalized. I agree it is not an exact process to remember and I also would think hundreds of Eagle Scouts are not being recognized properly for many merit badges completed past their Eagle Rank since it requires manually completion.

If you do not want to check Scoutbook to see that the Eagle Rank has been approved by the BSA (blue check mark), just wait until you are notified the Eagle presentation package is ready. The package is not prepared until after the Eagle Rank has been approved.

It is even more “fun/interesting” with girl eagles. We had 4 girls complete the EBOR in early Jan, have paperwork turned into council, get approved by national, credentials sent back to council, notification by council to me, so when I went into council to pick them up the very nice advancement lady at council asked if I wanted her to do the eagle palms for me. I said yes, about 15 minutes later she brought out the eagle packages and eagle palm paperwork. I went straight across the lobby to the scout shop and picked up 4 sets of eagle presentation stuff (presentation kit, neckerchief, & slide) and all the palms earned with the eagle for the 4 girls. That was last week and the palms do NOT yet show up in SB (we are still before the 2/8/21 official date for the Inaugural Class of Female Eagle Scouts).
I had previously attempted to add the palms after the EBOR date was entered into SB, did not work.
So I will just be patient and check after 2/8/21 to see if the palms show up in SB.

I think that it’s after the date that the “Leader Approved by BSA Administrator” appears for the overall rank, not just after the BoR is marked completed. I wasn’t sure if that had already occurred or not from your post above.

Charley “Leader approved by BSA Administrator” That’s what I meant by “I had previously attempted to add the palms after the EBOR date was entered into SB” Thanks for the clarification.
