So, we have an aged out scout that earned Eagle 5/29/25. Eagle shows up in SB and SB+ correctly. Due to summer and college, he’s not able to get an Eagle COH until the holidays, so I’m proactively getting his Eagle Palms into the system. However, the working is very confusing. He’s earned 28 MBs. This means he’ll earn one bronze Eagle Palm. The EPBronze#1 shows as incomplete even though it says Eagle Palms can be given “immediately”. SB+ shows there are two other requirements in EPBronze#1 that need completion - they require discussion with the scout about living the scout law and leadership, etc. Since Eagle Palms aren’t restricted in the Scout Store are we (Advancement Chairs, etc.) just auto-completing these requirements without these discussions? Is this just an unwritten rule? Why have these requirements if they aren’t needed and the Eagle Palms are purely MB-based? I know they took away the “stay active in troop" and “given 3-months post Eagle BOR” conditions a while back, but these two requirements seem unnecessary to complete in order to receive a single Eagle Palm.
@LauraHoward1 If the 5 additional merit badges were earned prior to the Eagle Scout board of review, then the other individual requirements do not matter.
Since they don’t matter, do we just make up dates for the other individual requirements (which seems counter to what Scoutbook is all about)? Why have the other individual requirements in the system if they don’t matter?
@LauraHoward1 - the requirements are there because they exist for mb’s earned AFTER eagle
You do not need to fill in the reqs when the Palm is earned with Eagle. Just enter the Eagle BOR date as the completed date.
As of January 1, 2019, the Eagle Palm Requirements are as follows:
After successfully completing your Eagle Scout board of review on or after Aug. 1, 2017, and being validated as an Eagle Scout by the National Service Center, you will be entitled to receive an Eagle Palm for each additional five merit badges you completed before your Eagle board of review beyond those required for Eagle.
In addition, all current Scouts who have completed their Eagle board of review and who had not passed their 18th birthday before Aug. 1, 2017, are entitled as well to receive Eagle Palms.

Thank you all for your direction on this topic. I wasn’t aware that MBs could be earned post-Eagle, so that concept wasn’t clicking with me. Seems maybe they should differentiate the Palms entry to Eagle and Post-Eagle, but that might be more complicated than SB+ wants it to be.
