Using Scoutbook + on a desktop and the only scouts I see are the scouts that are unassigned to a Den. In Scoutbook Legacy I can see everyone and I can still do Unit Quick Entry and see all of my Wolves, even new ones, just not on the the main Roster of SB+. I tried looking at the filters and had everything checked off that would be relevant, but they are not showing up.
@ElizabethDuffy did you just make new dens? Have you tried an Incognito window?
I believe the CM advanced the dens over the summer, I’m almost positive that I had logged in at some point since then and had been able to see everyone. I have not tried an Incognito window yet, but don’t have that option on my work desktop
I’ve been fighting with this issue also for the last few weeks.
Dens have been disappearing, and the scouts that are with them also no longer show up in Scoutbook Plus. Interestingly enough, all of the disappeared dens are present in the Legacy Scoutbook, even though they’re not in the onew one.
It used to work fine. I assume that they changed something for the migration, and that broke it.
@BrendanMeteer have you tried an Incognito Window to see what you see in SB+?
I actually just tried it (based on some other threads), and I can see all of the empty dens. Things are still very squirrelly and not functioning properly. When I ask them to delete the extra empty dens, it deletes them… but then they show up again, I delete them again, and scoutbook tells me that the den is not authorized for my unit… It’s a mess.
I can’t batch add scouts to new dens, I get an error message. (see below)
I close the incognito window and reopen one and log in again. The extra dens are gone now (the unauthorized ones), but I still cannot add a den and add scouts to it. (see the error below).
After some tinkering, it seems that I can add MOST scouts, but a few are broken ones that trigger that error.
Also, I shouldn’t have to use incognito/private browsing mode. If I need to do this, then there is something wrong with the cookies and that is an issue that needs to be fixed.
That’s great data! Can you please provide the Scouting America Member IDs (no names, please!) for the scouts who trigger the issue? That can help the developers diagnose what’s happening.
We reported the /0/parentUserids/0 error this morning.
Watch Scoutbook - Scoutbook Plus Change Log - Scouting Forums for an announcement of a fix.
So, I went through and assigned all of the kids to dens (even the ones I know won’t be coming back), and it looks like the only one that is actually broken is Member ID 14066090.
I am having to periodically close my incognito window and reopen it because whatever is happening with the cookies is sneaking into there as well. I’ve not sure if it’s related to attempting to make changes to 14066090, or if it is unrelated.
I believe it’s key that cubs are assigned to dens, as that controls which advancements are available for them to earn (or at least it used to). I’m not 100% sure if SB+ uses the same conceptual approach (assigned den = available rank advancements & awards) as classic Scoutbook did.
It does work that way in Scoutbook+. I’ve been using Scoutbook+ for a long while (since it was Internet Advancement 2.0) and I learned the hard way one year that I needed to make sure all of the advancement was in before I promoted the dens. I had to roll them back, make sure the ranks were recorded, and then advance them again.
This is the first time I’ve had any issues.
I generally leave the kids that register and never show, or are not coming back from the previous year in “Unassigned” until they expire, since I know advancement won’t be recorded for those youth. If they decide to come, I move them into a den. It helps me to find people.
In the “bad old days” of classic Scoutbook, I used to create a holding den and stash our departing scouts there until the program year ended and their registration expired. I’m only on the troop side these days, so SB+ is largely new territory to me. As a result, I’m not sure if the same thing could be done.
Update that it did work in an incognito tab and deleting cookies also worked. Hopefully it stays.
It looks like the issue with the one scout not functioning properly has been resolved. He showed up in the Bear Den when I logged in this morning, and I was able to move him out and then back into the Webelos den with no issues.
