Event Reminder Email Delays

I previously reported in January that event reminder emails have been going out much later than scheduled, or not at all in the case of final reminders that were scheduled for shortly before events. Here’s the longer description that I wrote in the now-auto-locked thread:

For the past few weeks, event reminders have been substantially delayed. As an example, we have an event coming up this Sunday at 4pm. The first reminder emails were scheduled to go out 6 days before the event, so they should have gone out at 4pm on Monday. Instead, I did not receive a reminder until 2:15am on Tuesday. (I also got the reminder three times within one minute, but I know the duplicate issue has already been reported).

Where this really becomes a problem is when the reminder emails are just before events. We have weekly den/pack meetings on Mondays at 7pm, with final reminder emails scheduled to go out 2 hours beforehand at 5pm. For the last two weeks, no such reminders were sent for these meetings. I presume that they were delayed, and then a separate process that prevents reminders from being sent after an event separately blocked them entirely.

In any case, this issue is causing emails to be delayed past the point of usefulness for same-day reminders. Please let me know if any additional information is needed.

As of this week, the problem is still occurring. Our day-of emails sometimes don’t go out at all. This week we had a meeting at a different location and some families went to the wrong location because our final reminder did not go out. (Yes, they were told multiple times about the location change - but the day-of reminder emails are scheduled exactly in case someone forgets.)

Does anyone know if this is at least on the list of bugs being investigated?

Can you send a copy of one of the emails and when it was scheduled to go out? if we give you an email?

If you’d like the full unredacted emails with headers, just let me know where to send them to.

@WhitneyD I will send you a direct message > look at top right Avatar to find it > it will be a green envelope > it will be a private message channel with select members of the Scoutbook User Advisory Council (SUAC)

I’ve forwarded the emails. Hopefully this helps the devs identify the problem. Thanks!

I have noticed this bug too with the auto reminder event emails set for 1 day go out on average 12 hours before the event. Curious if its is being addressed or if its on the list to be worked?

A large part of my units notifications utilize this feature as a fail safe mechanism for general unit notifications.

I’m noticing the same thing there is a reminder for our troop committee meeting that was supposed to have gone out at 7PM and is reported to have gone out but has not.

Granted, it’s only been 32 minutes so I’m not stressed but FYI.

For what it is worth, we are now 16+ hours after the reminder was supposedly sent, and it has not gone out.

So I experimented: I created an event for 11:30 Eastern and directed a reminder ASAP. I listed myself as the sole invitee and received the invite within seconds.

Further testing:

I created events where I am the only invitee

ASAP reminders work.
Reminders 1 week out work (I set a test event for April 2)
Reminders 1 day out woke (I set a test event for March 27)

EDIT (since I cannot do 3 replies)

Okay, so a reminder was supposed to go out this morning to my entire troop at 9:00 a.m. for an event happening tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. It did not.

At 9:28 a.m., I attempted to send an email “Send ASAP”. That DID work (1-2 minute lag time).

Hope this helps tracks down the bug.

I am also experiencing “no reminder sent” – yesterday was two weeks before an event, the event had a reminder to send “two weeks before” and no email was sent.
