Could you please include the Grade level of each Cub Scout in the Roster table? This information is collected through the Registration form and is essential for accurately assigning the Scouts to their respective Dens. I appreciate your consideration in migrating this critical information. Thank you!
You can use roster builder for that data = it is historically not accurate as National advances scouts in grades with no personal data.
Hi Donovan, thanks for your answer- where can I find Roster builder? Or can I change the columns view of the Roster Table (like report builder)?
Is the Roster builder in SB+ the only way to organize dens? I need the grade level to properly place youth in the den.
Well the roster builder you could get and organize the report - then an admin can Edit the Dens for the correct Scouts - that is in the Roster - not the report
Thanks- Just to put it in reference, I am the Committee Chair of a large Family Pack. As soon as my new member coordinator accepts the Cubs, I need to place them in dens in order to get them invited to their meetings and in the loop on communication. Therefore, I need a way to efficiently and accurately see their current grade level and assign them to the correct Den. My suggestion is to remove some of the extraneous fields (ie Age) in the Roster if needed to have the grade level displayed.
I’m trying to learn more. Are there other uses for the SB+ Roster besides building dens? Would those uses be affected if the Grade level were added?
@ErikaSegraves- cubs are by age/grade as it is. Now were you asking for something on the my.scouting.org roster or scoutbook plus ?
I’m not understanding where the grade level is in the Roster table?
@ErikaSegraves OK gonna try again - having grade on Roster will do you no good - as roster is hidden when making dens.
An Admin can go to SB+ and click Reports
Then Click Here for New Roster Report
Then Add Grade using this after you select all scouts on Left
Then you print report or save on a different Tab
Then Add Den in Roster
Then add the Scouts - see there are no grades - so the report solves it
In my.Scouting, on the unit Roster, once you select one or more Scouts, you can click on:
Print → Youth Member Age Report
I can tell that we are all getting frustrated, and I’m sorry about that. I don’t need a report.
I need to place scouts in the appropriate den, and I don’t have the information on the Roster to do so. Take member 141710002, if I place him in the same Den as the other age group, I would be wrong, and there is no QC check to tell me that he should be in the correct den. This could be avoided by having a column in the Roster with the Grade level of each Scout.
I’m happy to discuss and screenshare if needed to help bridge the gap.
@ErikaSegraves - i will ask again as you posted this in the my.scouting thread.. do you want to see this in the my.scouting roster or in scoutbook plus ?
This is a good point. The grade information is from my.scouting and I think the Den placement roster is in SB+. There is also a roster in my.scouting and SB, which does confound the issue. Sorry for the confusion!
@ErikaSegraves - so I guess you want it shown in scoutbook plus roster as that seem to show age. I will ask though what do you do if a scout is held back a grade or more ? Additionally you would have to hope that the grade/school info is reasonably correct and that is often a broad assumption.
If you follow my directions you will get what you want - having the grade in SB+ Roster will not help as you do not have that info when making a den
@ErikaSegraves- what Donovan has stated is correct. Once you are at edit den you will just have a list of scouts and leaders. There will be no age or grade listed.
@ErikaSegraves- well a few things to note the two requests for grade level were pre scoutbook plus. Next is that there is no longer recharter. Now on your add to den what does it bring up after you click that. I no longer have a pack so I do not have grade concerns.
