Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
We are trying to clean up a scout’s parent connections and when the second parent was invited to connect through Scoutbook, the creation of their Scoutbook account seems to be stuck in limbo. The scout’s MID is 141058442. The parent with the same last name is the one that seems to be stuck. They could not login with the credentials that were emailed to them. We resent the invite and it instructed them to create a my.scouting account for SSO, but clicking that link just gave them a spinning ball. Is this a case of try again on a day other than Monday?
Additionally, the person linked with initials CG is not a parent of this scout and we are trying to get that connection removed.
I can’t provide much in the way of pointers on the other issue, but the only folks who can remove an adult who was incorrectly connected as a parent/guardian in SB/SB+ is that adult or the council professionals (usually the registrar or whomever has access to the VST toolkit).
ETA: Actually, it might be better (since you already have to call council) to have the council connect the parent to the scout in the official Akela membership database (i.e. create a parent “relationship” there). That will push the connection out to SB/SB+ 24-48 hours later, and have the benefit that the newly-connected parent will also get the automated membership renewal emails for their scout each year (as opposed to it only going to one parent).
@GarrettGreen Council can disconnect wrong parents in Scoutbook and in AKELA.
It is best for users to make a my.scouting.org account (if they do not have one) - then have councils connect that account to the Scout in Registrar Tools
