Have you lost connection to Scouts moving them to a Sub-unit (Den/Patrol)

If this has happened to you in the last 6 weeks - please lay out a few things for us

  1. Your position(s) in Scoutbook
  2. Unit Type
  3. Sub-unit info (was it new or existing)
  4. How did you move the Scout? Reassign? The Scout’s Membership page?
  5. Were these new Scouts to your unit or existing Scouts?

Any other info

Thanks

I just had this problem :frowning:

  1. Committee Chairman
  2. Pack
  3. New Dens
  4. I moved them by reassigning like the video said
  5. We just started using Scout Book so combination of new and existing scouts

I just had this happen as well. Very frustrating.

  1. Scoutmaster, Executive Officer, Troop Admin
  2. Troop for girls
  3. Moving new girls into an existing patrol.
  4. Reassign from the patrol page.
  5. New Scouts
The funny thing is I moved them into the patrol on Tuesday, I think, and didn’t notice having lost the connections. I was just in Scoutbook to update some merit badges they were going to work on, add parent connections, etc., and noticed that the three girls I had moved no longer had connections to ANYONE in the Troop, and said I did not have permission to adjust their connections. Since they are new and did not even have their parents added, we now have noone at all with any kind of connection to them to restore connection with the Troop leaders.

Please help.

  1. COR, Committee Chair, Unit Admin
  2. Pack
  3. Yes New Den, female Scout first entry
  4. Reassign
  5. New brought in via MU.
Mother reapproved connection after I sent via Connect button.

@BryanBlair :

  1. Go to your Troop Roster page.
  2. Click on your name.
  3. Click on your Troop Admin position.
  4. Click Update.

This should reset your connection to all Scouts in your troop. If that doesn’t work, try updating your Scoutmaster position using the steps above, and also log out / log back in again to Scoutbook.

Thanks Jennifer, that did the trick!

  1. Your position(s) in Scoutbook: Pack Scoutbook Administrator
  2. Unit Type: Pack
  3. Sub-unit info (was it new or existing): Existing
  4. How did you move the Scout? Reassign? The Scout’s Membership page? Reassign
  5. Were these new Scouts to your unit or existing Scouts? 1 - new; 1 - transfer from another Pack
  1. Your position(s) in Scoutbook: Committee Chair, Troop Admin
  2. Unit Type: Troop
  3. Sub-unit info (was it new or existing): Existing
  4. How did you move the Scout? Reassign? The Scout’s Membership page? Reassign
  5. Were these new Scouts to your unit or existing Scouts? Existing Scouts, I did maintain connection to my son who was also reassigned at the same time.

The tip for updating the troop admin position also fixed the issue.

Thank you! That fixed my problem!

I had just chartered a new troop and everyone had been moved into it from an existing troop. I lost access to all of the existing the Scouts during this process except my own child, though I had access to the newly registered Scouts. I then had the CC grant me access to the transferred Scouts, moved them into their patrols, and the next day both I and the CC had lost access to the Scouts. To answer the original questions:

  1. Your position(s) in Scoutbook

For this troop, SM and Troop Admin. (For another troop, assorted other positions, including Troop Admin.)

  1. Unit Type

Troop

  1. Sub-unit info (was it new or existing)

New.

  1. How did you move the Scout? Reassign? The Scout’s Membership page?

Went into the patrol and used the reassign option.

  1. Were these new Scouts to your unit or existing Scouts?

All of the Scouts were new to the unit. Some had transferred from another unit, and two were new registrations.
