Having trouble getting Scouts and parents connected, and therefore, Scouts not able to get email from Scoutbook

I have two Scouts in our Troop that are not able to get emails through Scoutbook. This is becoming problematic because we are moving towards using that primarily for communication.
One family, the father has somehow gotten two accounts, but he has not been able to invite his son to add his email.

The other is a transfer to our unit. The mom is listed as parent, but is not “connected” to her son through Scoutbook. I sent test emails, but the Scout is not receiving any from the Troop.
Any ideas on what to try next?
