Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
I’m looking for assistance in getting a parent connected to their scout. Our Council added the parent, and they were able to connect to their account, but they are unable to log in. Council supposedly added her email, but I am unable to see one on my end. What steps should I recommend this parent take, as Council has referred her back to me (the pack) for solution.
One of our Tigers, (name removed), does not have his parent’s record show up in the “Messages” list in ScoutBook. I see his father’s record attached to Wesley’s, but he does not appear as a valid contact to send a message to.
I tried to edit his profile, but could not see the email field.
Top line item: SUAC has asked that we not post email addresses and full names in the forums, as these are world-readable. If they need that information, they will set up a private chat. However, BSA ID numbers and/or Scoutbook User ID numbers for the individuals involved are sufficiently anonymous that they can be posted.
Once an adult has connected to their account, you can’t edit their email address anymore. Generally, if you don’t have a minimum permission level to the scout in Scoutbook (I think it’s View Profile), you will not have the ability to message them or (I think) their parent. What is your connection with the scout as shown in Scoutbook?
@BrianPutman Try having the parent create a my.scouting account. She should try to connect to her already existing BSA member number (137419476). After she does that, she should be able to log into Scoutbook with her my.scouting username and password.
