If a parent is not a registered adult, what can they sign into to find their child’s BSA ID?
Depends on a few things? is the parent connected in Scoutbook? If so they could see it there. They might be connected in my.scouting.org - they might see there under My Applications (one parent is always there with first application for scout.) Unit leader could provide it. ??? without the BSA # of the Scout we are just saying what might be possible, post the # and we could direct more.
So I’m able to look it up and provide to the parent, but I also wanted to give them instructions for how to look it up in the future.
The Scout’s BSA ID is 13668668
The Mother could look in all the ways I mentioned -
Scoutbook/Scoutbook + - look at Profile
my.scouting.org - My Applications
OK thanks. I’ll probably do the Scoutbook/Scoutbook + route
I’m looking in my.scouting.org under My Applications, and while it shows myself and my daughter, it doesn’t give either of our BSA IDs there. Also, when logging on to my.Scouting through my wife’s account, our daughter doesn’t show up, even though they are connected on Scoutbook.
Connections in Scoutbook mean nothing in my.scouting
Ok, does this essentially mean the system only recognizes one parent for each Scout?
EDIT: I found the BSA IDs under “TRANSFER/MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS”
Each scout normally has one adult listed on their original application. This adult is added to the membership database AKELA when the scout is added, and the relationship is made between the two accounts.
Additional adults may be added and linked using the relationship tab in the system. This is typically done only by request to a registrar.
Connections made in Scoutbook do not propagate to AKELA. AKELA relationships do propagate to SB. An AKELA connection is required for a parent to renew their scout.
The AKELA connection is member ID (MID) dependant. If the original parent subsequently registers as a leader and receives a second MID, the MIDs need to be managed and the AKELA relationship corrected to the primary MID.
Transfers between councils gives new MIDs, so more chances for errors.
