How to connect / add parents in internet advancement?

There does not appear to be a way to add a parent to a scouts connections. one parent gets added after the application is processed but there does not appear to be a way to add parents in internet advancement. I

Connections are still made via Legacy Scoutbook. The 2 most reliable ways to connect parents to Scouts are:

  1. Have the registrar connect the parent to the Scout using the Relationships tab of Registrar tools. About 24 hours later the parent and Scout will be connected in Scoutbook.
  2. Have the parent log in to Scoutbook, navigate to their Connections page then click the Connect to Scout as Parent/Guardian link at the top of the page. This requires the parent provide the Scout’s BSA Member ID and other information they already know.

Expanding a bit on @edavignon post, #1 updates the connection in the AKELA database behind My.Scouting and the overnight sync updates Scoutbook (SB). This allows any connected parent to see the scout on My.Scouting > My Application and be able to renew them. #2 only updates SB.
