Six years ago I created my son’s Scoutbook account using my email address; he was 12 and didn’t check email reliably. Some years later I created my own Scoutbook account to become a registered parent and complete YPT. Now my son is 18, needs to renew his membership, and I’d like to give him full control of his account by replacing my email address with his, but I don’t see any way to do that myself. How do we update the email address associated with his SB account?
He needs to create a my.scouting.org ID then he can log in to his account and change his e-mail address.
Thanks for your quick reply. Is a my.scouting.org ID different than the SB User ID?
@TomLoveland Yes. He needs to go to my.Scouting.org and create account. When he does so, he needs to match up with his already existing member ID number, the one that ends in -001.
Thank you very much! He’s set up now.
Next question: We want to renew his membership, per the reminder emails we’ve been receiving. The reminder email link takes us to the Current Memberships page and appears to want to allow us to renew his Youth Member membership. I presume we don’t want to do this since he’s now 18. Correct? I guess he now needs to apply as an adult? Where/how does he do this?
Have him do the SYT training first, and then have him apply online as an adult using the link from beascout.scouting.org, assuming that online applications are allowed for adults by the unit and local council.
