I am Advancement Chair and cannot Record Progress

I am the Advancement Chair with Admin and 3 key privileges and I am not able to record any progress in Internet Advancement. The entire ‘Record Progress’ dropdown menu is greyed out and I am unable to access it.
Howe do I fix this?!

@jms - if I had to take a wild stab in the dark it is all about recharter. Have a key 3 check that unit expiration date is now 12/31/21 and if so they need to add you back into the advancement and delegate roles in my.scouting.org. Beyond that you have hit on a pet peeve of mine. The key 3 are
Charter org rep
Committee chair
Unit leader (scoutmaster, cubmaster, crew advisor)

Ask a Key 3 member to log in to my.scouting.org, go to Menu → Organization Security Manager and add you as a Unit Advancement Chair. After 24 hours you should be able to update advancement in Internet Advancement.

I am curious why you are adding advancement via Internet Advancement for advancement when it appears that your unit uses Scoutbook. Internet Advancement uses the same database as Scoutbook. Advancement that is added via Internet Advancement is the same as advancement that is marked Leader Approved in Scoutbook.

Thank you for the response. I will have a Key 3 member add me as Advancement Chair in my.scouting.org and see if that works.
Currently, our troop primarily uses TroopMaster and I have been tasked with moving everything over to Scoutbook. I thought the most efficient way to add scouts’ advancement was through Internet Advancement now that Internet Advancement is directly connected to Scoutbook.
I know how to use the Quick Entry feature in Scoutbook, so that is helpful, but when I was shown how to use the Record Progress feature in Internet Advancement, it seemed easier.

Internet Advancement only tracks completions. If you have Scouts with partial completions, you will need to enter that data via Scoutbook.

@jms

I heard back from the developers on your issue. You are apparently selecting Scouts and/or adults that do not have a BSA Member ID in their Scoutbook record. This will cause the Record Progress options to be grayed out.

Good afternoon, I’m the Advancement Chair for Troop 28 in Platte City, MO and I noticed the section for Internet Advancement is no longer an option for me, so I can’t update the progress of our scouts. Can someone help me and tell me why and what I can do to get this resolved. Thanks.

Can you be more specific? What are you seeing?

Ricky,

You are not listed as Unit Advancement Chair in my.scouting.org. You will need to have a Key 3 member log in to my.scouting.org then navigate to MENU → Organization Security Manager and add you as Unit Advancement Chair. The next day you should be able to use Internet Advancement.

There use to be a section I could click on (Internet Advancement) right below my.Scouting Dashboard (Training) and it’s no longer there. Is this happening for others as well?

@RickyMillerd - do you see BSA Web Links… click on that and what is listed there.

Ok thank you, I just wonder why this happened, because I have been Advancement Chair the last 2 years and they all knew I was still in the troop.

The Record Progress feature is grayed out prior to selecting any individual - it is grayed out when I select Troop Roster and can view the list of everyone in the Troop.
In the upper right hand corner of the Troop Roster page I have Run Report (working), Record Progress (grayed out), and Show: (working).

The functional positions in my.scouting.org (like UAC, Key 3 delegate, etc) expire each year when the new charter is posted by council, and need to be re-added by one of the unit Key 3 (SM/CM, CC, COR) after that happens.

The programmers made some changes affecting functional positions, check again and see if your access is restored.

Ricky,

The developers are asking if you are still having the problem.

Our Scoutmaster has allowed me access, so all is good now thanks for helping me.
