Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
Hello! I am Advancement Chair, Admin, and a parent in Scoutbook. I am trying to add a hike that some of our scouts took into the new internet advancement, however it does not let me. I can change to a “parent” and add one in specifically for my child, but when I am in as an admin it doesn’t let me add for the unit. I also can’t see a profile that shows as Advancement Chair in the internet advancement. Any ideas? I have attached a few screen captures.
Internet Advancement currently looks to the permissions that are designated at my.scouting.org (my.Scouting Tools or MYST for short). Your unit’s Key 3 are:
Scoutmaster (or Cubmaster for packs, Advisors for crews, Skippers for ships)
Committee Chair
Chartered Org. Rep.
Any of the unit’s Key can can use the Organization Security Manager at MYST to designate functional positions such as:
Key 3 Delegate (K3Ds up to three per unit)
Unit Advancement Chair
(Please note that the functional positions expire at the end of every year and need to be redesignated after the unit recharters.)
The most likely reason why you cannot access Internet Advancement and the activity logs there is because you need to be designated as a K3D or Unit Advancement Chair at my.scouting.org.
If it does not show UAC then a K3 needs to go to my.scouting.org > Organization Security manager > and add that Functional Role for you. It is erased every year at recharter
