Initial log in for a scout

I am assisting my scout to log into scoutbook for the first time. When he goes to “My Account” it’s not setting up the correct info. It’s just asking him to update his password and security questions. We update them, press save, and end up on the same page. When I log into SB, I can see his advancement stuff just fine. What is happening and how can he log in to look at his own information?

@MargaretKinney post the Member ID of the Scout (no name) and we might be able to help

Thank you. 132141368 is the scout trying to log into scoutbook for the first time

@MargaretKinney Everything looks set up correctly.

He should be able to log in at my.Scouting, and then log in to Scoutbook (legacy) using the same credentials.

If you need more assistance, your local council can help reset the password.

Another question about initial use- on the scoutbook info site, there is a 3 page “parent’s trail guide to scoutbook” from 2024. It says a parent needs to go into scoutbook, go to the scouts “edit extended information” to invite scouts to SB. When I do that step, the response from “edit extended information” says “please use edit profile to edit scout information” Do I need to invite my child or should they be able to just log in?

That is outdated information.

Your Scout already has a username (login) at my.scouting, so he should log in with the same username and password.

Is there an accurate, quick handout for parents and scouts who are starting to use scoutbook to explain log in and general features? A number of topics on the scoutbook page are more advanced. I am looking for something concise and useful. Thank you

Is there some sort of introductory guide to parents/ scouts to log into SB for the first time- something current and accurate? Another parent tried to have her older than 13 year old scouts log in for the first time and they weren’t able to do so.
