Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
I am a Cubmaster. I had a father and two sons who transferred into my pack in summer of 2024 from a different council. They had problems re-registering in the fall of 2024 and again had problems registering this year.
The boys’ registrations seem to be in a good state now, but the father was unexpectedly dropped from the roster this past week AND his connection to his boys was dropped too. The dad and I have both reached out to our council but they haven’t been able to fully explain the problem to us or fix it. So I’m here to hopefully figure out what is wrong and see if it can be fixed.
Council said they father has multiple IDs since he has been registered in two councils. But that the IDs used in Scoutbook need to be the correct ones for him to show up in our roster and connect to his sons.
Here is the father’s old ID: 4979248
Here is his new ID: 141012925
Here are the IDs that I have for his two sons. I don’t any any other ID numbers for them.
141012922
141012919
They all have the same last name so that should help to find them and link them together.
I know it usually takes a little time for changes to propagate through the databases. How long should I wait to see if it worked? When council attempted to fix the issues last week they said to wait 24-48 hours for changes to take affect.
I see that the father is now linked to his sons. Thank you!
The only remaining issue is the father isn’t on the Pack roster. He is supposed to be listed as a den leader but he isn’t showing up in the My.Scouting roster or in Scoutbook+ as a registered leader.
If he’s not in the official roster at my.scouting, you likely have to work with the council registrar to find out why. How recently did he submit the application to become a DL? It takes time after submitting and processing for the background check to be completed. Was it submitted online or hardcopy? Did the COR approve it if it was submitted online? These are all factors that impact how long elapses between the adult submitting their “paperwork” and actually appearing on the roster.
He became a den leader with his initial transfer into the Pack in the summer of 2024. For whatever reason, his re-registration has had hiccups in 2024 and again had hiccups this year too. He had to open a ticket with council who then had to open a ticket with national to complete his latest re-registration.
I now assume something went wrong in this process and that’s why he was dropped this past week.
I will reach out to council again. Hopefully this can be resolved soon.
The morning sync hasn’t fixed the issue. He still doesn’t show as a registered leader in the pack. Would him putting in another application into the pack fix the issue?
The father is registered as a Den Leader in Pack 524. Is this correct?
I requested another position sync and fixed his address in Scoutbook. Check after 4:00 PM Central. Depending upon the volume of data that needs to be synced, it takes a couple of cycles to complete.
