Scout is about to ask for an Eagle BOR, and asked me (AC) to fill in missing dates on old (first class) rank requirements. This is tedious (thanks SB…), and something I could handle on old SB, but cannot on “Plus” and now my record is broken.

As expected, can’t just add a missing date (why?, btw). Only way is un-approving every rank all the way back… Ok. I settle in for my adventure:
Un-approve Life: Can’t. Must un-approve Life BOR.
Ok, un-approve both BOR and rank: It works. Life un-approved.
Un-approve Star: Can’t. Get an error that says “you can only un-approve one rank back…” :roll_eyes:

Ok. I give up my quest. Can’t add missing dates, so I try re-approving Life and its BOR to its original state: Error. The original completion date is now before the last Merit Badge completed on Life Req. 3.
What just happened? The Merit Badges used for the Life Rank have changed!, and their completion date is now after the original Life BOR’s date. I cannot change the Merit badges back to the ones used originally, and cannot re-approve Life to its original date.

Not only can’t I do the simple task of entering missing dates, but now this record is broken.

Anyone:
How can I put things back the way they were? (I kept an individual advancement record pdf)
Somehow pick the old, correct Merit Badges?, or some other way?

Why is it still so hard to use SB for something as simple as filling in a missing date?

Which insinuates this is a bug, with no real solution, and a workaround of up-approving Merit Badges??? How far do I have to go to fill in missing dates!

The assumption here was that it would make a difference to have a completely filled in Online record at the Eagle BOR…

@MarcoRivero old req dates are not needed for EBOR only eagle req dates and other final dates

There was a change that puts star and life ranks in but I THINK Prioritizes Eagle MBS which messes up the chronological order. If you went in and erased all the dates and put them back in I think 2 choices.

  1. Wait for a fix to the order
  2. re-clear dates form MBs - and slowly reenter them to fill the rank MB dates properly by date - once rank MBs are full and done - approve the rank to lock it.

@MarcoRivero- prior rank reqs should have zero bearing on ebor nor should any of that enter into discussion. Beyond that all that is in the scout record is final completion dates.

I have the same problem where the Life MB requirement (#3) was recorded by the last scoutmaster eight months after the BOR and after the MB were earned. Looking to have the record accurately reflect the dates when earned/completed.

The MBs recorded against a rank do not matter, especially if the Scout has already had a BOR for that rank. There is no easy way to get the system to use the MBs you want it to use.

@edavignon Thanks for the quick response. I understand the individual MB don’t matter, but right now requirement #3 is locked on a date eight months after the physical book shows his scoutmaster conference and BoR being completed because the prior scoutmaster approved the requirement well after the MB were actually completed. This means his digital scoutbook completion date for Life would be eight months behind his actual Life completion date as recorded by the people who signed his physical book. This is the incorrect completion date for the rank. And, it would affect the six-month clock for Eagle requirements.

Just curious as to why Requirement #3 is not an editable field.

This is a known issue. There are some other posts on this issue that may work to allow you to mark Life complete but they have not always worked and are complex. If you search the forums you should be able to find them.

I noted the potential fix, and am curious if that Requirement #3 date would be editable if I can go backwards and clear out prior approvals. Or would it default to today’s date and potentially cost me more “delay” in the completion date and six-month clock for Eagle?

It is supposed to use the completion date of the last MB used for the rank for the completion of Req 3.
