I’m trying to advance a Scout to Life Rank. All the requirements are complete and have been marked off. Also, ScoutBook Plus shows that the required 11 Merit Badges have been earned. However, the system generates an error message that says the required merit badges have not been earned (even though I can see them).
Post the Scout’s Scouting America Member ID (no names) and we will investigate.
The scout have issues with recognizing his earned merit badges to advance to life rank as a member ID 136579263.
Try approving Life requirement 3. It is only marked completed but not approved in the DB.
I see what you mean by only showing only completed. However, within the requirement 3 ‘box’, there is no pull-down or ‘click’ area to mark the requirement as approved. I hovered my curser over everything within the requirement 3 box and there is nothing to select as approved. Has the GUI hidden the Complete Date, Mark as Approved, and Add Comment information for that requirement? All the other requirements has that information.

Try putting a completion date on the BOR requirement and let me know what happens.
I entered the BoR Completion Date, marked Approved, and tried to save (update) that requirement. The same error code was generated. . . i.e. does not have the necessary merit badges, etc.

Your question got me thinking. So, I went ahead and approved all his recent MBs. None of these recent MBs were being ‘flagged’ for meeting the Life Rank, because he already had 44 MB of which 14 were Eagle. But approving the recent ones, must have reset something and I was able to enter the date, mark approved, and save. No errors. Not sure if this is the new process, but it makes sense and I can live with it. Thanks for the help - Dan

I got it to work after approving all his recent MBs. These recent MBs were not needed to reach Life Rank because the Scout already had 44 MBs of which 14 were Eagle. But it must have reset something and allowed me to approve the rank and save. - Thanks for your patience
That date on Life #3 still seems wrong to me
My understanding is that Aug 7th was the date on 3 MB that were earned during Summer Camp. The data was entered using the Black Pug option?. Interesting that these 3 Eagle MBs (Hiking, Cycling and Lifesaving) were not listed for the Life Rank advancement. Maybe the Lifesaving had a ‘bit’ out of place in the software?
But on the Life page - what is the latest Complete date on an MB - it cannot be in 2025
On the Life page, the latest complete date on the list of 11 MB is 5/5/25 and is the Sustainability MB. The Scout requirement #3 shows a (blue colored) Approved Date of 8/7/25. The only explanation I have for the 8/7/25 date is that additional MB were earned this summer during that week. The Life Rank BoR was held this week on 8/19/25.
Additional Notes: I approved several of the Scout’s MB today. These MBs should be way beyond anything required for Life. These MBs were Lifesaving, Architecture, Search and Rescue, and Forestry. They were all earned/completed on either 8/7/25 or 8/8/25. I think when I approved the Lifesaving MB earned on 8/7/25 it must have unlocked the Life approval feature. Interesting Note: what I find most interesting is that when the system made the decision to select 11 MB for Life rank, it only selected Eagle MBs and none of the regular MBs. Obviously, the Eagle MBs were not the oldest. The prior system would have select the oldest MBs, then parse them between Eagle and non-Eagle MBs.
