Welcome! This forum has a treasure trove of great info – Scouters helping Scouters! Just a heads up, though - all content, information, and opinions shared on this forum are those of the author, not the BSA.
My Troop’s leaders are having an issue with Scouts not showing up on Scoutbook Plus. I (committee chair) personally have the issue if I access on my phone, but I see everyone when logging in through a computer. Even weirder, I can get to those Scouts on Scoutbook, click on advancement and it sends me back to Scoutbook Plus, but now I am in that Scout’s profile. When I leave their profile, I again cannot see that Scout. We have 2 new Scout patrols and I lose both patrols when accessing from my phone.
I don’t know if the problem is related, but Assistant Scoutmasters are getting the error that they are not connected to the Scout. My understanding is that I no longer have to set connections for every Scout because it is handled through adult positions. Is that not correct? Do I need to do both now?
There was a change to how the default filters were defined in SB+ at one point. I had to manually toggle the filters on my phone before I saw all of our scouts, although it worked just fine on my desktop. You might try having folks reset the filters in the roster to show all of the scouts.
All advancement should be through SB+ for troops now (except for MBCs signing off requirements). The permissions structure was revamped recently-ish, and ASMs do not default to having any permissions for advancement under the new system. Any of the Key 3 or Key 3 Delegates can assign permissions according to the documents linked to from this post in another thread (also shown in a dismissable blue banner at the top of these forums).
Filter does not appear to be my issue for patrols going missing. I have everything checked, but still 2 patrols are completely gone. I’m not sure how the issue is presented the ASMs for my troop, but they also don’t have the new-ish scouts on their roster when accessing via their phones.
Do I have to do something each time a new scout is added to assign the permissions? Each ASM is assigned to sign off on advancements, but they cannot do so for the newest of the Scouts. It seems like it would automatically allow the ASM to check off the advancement of the newest Scouts, but that is not happening.
@StevenScordino - so you are stating that everything looks fine as far as scouts and patrols on your pc but not on the phone. That may be a cache issue on your phone.
142126727 in Tiger Patrol. Reset filter lets me see the Scout from phone, but this Scout had the additional issue of ASMs not being able to access her advancement.
@StevenScordino ASMs cannot by default access advancement - Key3 should look at these 2 links below
A major focus of the migration to Scoutbook Plus is to have positions mirror the positions shown in My.Scouting to ensure positions were reflected accurately in both platforms. The main purpose it to honor the guidance of our charter organizations and the positions they approve. Therefore, Scoutbook Plus does not use Legacy Scoutbook positions. Registered positions are used to provide base permissions. Some additional permissions can be added by the unit, however, there are restrictions on what can be given. See the updated Scoutbook_Permissions.pdf and the Scoutbook Plus permissions video for more details.
As stated above, the ASMs were already designated with the correct permissions. The problem was that they didn’t have access to the newest Scouts. I have since gone into old Scoutbook and created the connections in the hopes the problem will go away, but my understanding is that this is not supposed to be something I have to do anymore.
I want to make sure this doesn’t time out. We’ve established the ASMs had the correct permissions under SB+. We’ve also established that with new Scouts (joined in the last 2 months), the ASMs have received errors that they do not have access to this Scout. Is there something that needs to be corrected in SB+ or something that I need to do when I get new scouts to make sure the people with permissions will have the permissions with the new scout.
The ASM has access today, so I don’t think a screenshare will help. He didn’t on Tuesday when he was trying to sign things off. In the interim, I went into Scoutbook and put in the connections in the hopes that would address the issue. The scouts he couldn’t access were also the ones that did not have a connection in Scoutbook Legacy.
I know that makes it like bringing a car to a shop due a noise it is making and it stops making the noise. I hope we can find a solution though because I am not always on hand to sign Scouts off when the ASMs can’t access the Scout on Scoutbook Plus.
